    Halo Universe/ Avatar

This may have been discussed before, but I did a quick forum search and didnt see anything.

Has anyone else noticed the similarities between the UNSC vehicles and aircraft and the look of the military technology in the new movie Avatar? Watch the preview. The aricraft looked so much like Hornets that I thought it was actually a preview for a Halo movie.

I also spotted cyclops, warthogs and pelicans. Really it is almost identical.

Wishful thinking. They are just typical Sci-Fi/Fantasy vehicles. Similar yes, but not copied or mimicked.

I saw Cyclopses, Hornets, Pelicans, Warthogs, and Marines. Looks pretty dang similar to me.

PS: Opening scene looked like a Nebulon-B frigate from Star Wars.

Going by a historical standpoint? Yeah, it's happened before; America taking the land from the Native Americans. However how many of those movies have you sympathize with the aliens?

my impression from the trailer is this: "Humans are bad, they kill everything, they are evil at heart."

which translates to me: "America is bad, they kill everything, they're racists and biggots."

either way, i HATE political crap getting forced down the viewers throats. but hey, i DON'T have to see it, but i plan on "not". Just like in a TV show last night, Al Gore makes an appearance and while it was in a comical setting, he pretty much says that government needs to have their hands in our everyday lives, making sure we are "going green." i swear, if i hear another person tell me to "go green" and mean it . . . .

but yeah, it does look like some tech was ripped off. nice job ES!

    holy crap, that's amazing!
you would think with how much that movie cost to make they would be able to have SOME originality. i mean, crap, yo.

    Re: Halo Universe/ Avatar

Floating bodies of land in the air:

I am almost certain that Delgo isn't the first to conceptualize this. It's something that can be found in several science fiction or fantasy stories.

    The Na'vi:

I found little to no similarities with the image from Delgo. The skin is blue in opposed to tan. The hair is long a tribal, black instead of brown. The clothing is more primitive. The noses are extended further down, with the lips closer to the nostrils than in Delgo. There is also the lack of facial hair, in any of the Na'vi that I've seen, as well as the Na'vi having pointed, elf-like ears, while Delgo has rounded human-like ears.

    Hostile alien:

The one in Avatar appears more amphibious than insectiod, having no visible carapace. The one in Delgo has a clear shell on it's back, while the one in Avatar has what look like flower buds. Avatar has legs that appear to have bones in them, while Delgo has crab-like legs. The Avatar creature has what appear to be only two eyes, while the Delgo creature has several. Unsimmilar, if you ask me.

    Interaction with glowing spore:

Another common occurrence. Be it fairies, phosphorous flowers, or other some sort of unearthly phenomena.  This is even seen in Ferngully. Even then, the spores seem different, and less of a romantic occurrence in Avatar.

    Flight on winged creatures:

When I watched the Avatar trailer, the first thing I though of was the Skybak Riders in Dinotopia. Even flight on the back of Dragons has been done before. The Creatures in Avatar have webbed wings, more resembling dragons, while the creatures in Delgo seem to have a single membrane, much like a Quetzocoatl. While similar, they are different.

    Death of a loved one/warrior:

A concept as old as time. We see this in 10,000 BC, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, etc, etc. Saying that Avatar copied this from Delgo is like saying Saving Private Ryan copied WWII battle from Patton.

    Romance between major characters:

    See above.

    Dragon-like creature:

Avatar's has pointed teeth, while the Delgo creature has what look like flat teeth. There is also skin color difference, vestigial horn differneces, and the eyes. Avatar has two, while it appears Delgo's has four.

    Warriors ready for battle:

Avatar's once again seem more primitive and tribal, while Delgo appears more like the Elves from The Two Towers. Delgo seems more organized, with structured buildings in the background. Avatar has wooden weapons and leather armor, with tribal huts. I fail to see the similarities.

Overall, I would say that it's possible that Delgo inspired Avatar in ways, but the two are not a blatant copy+paste+edit. They're as similar as Halo and Starcraft are.

as close as we're gonna get to a halo movie is to watch the g i joe, district 9, avatar and 2012 in 1 day.  there are cyclops look-a-likes in the aliens movie. (get away from her ubitch)  and the matrix revolutions where they actually had guns. if ours in hw were like the matrix they would pwn! i just saw a preview to the prince of persia movie. seriously wtf, that game was no where near halo's caliber but they get a big screen feature? c'mon now! :,-(
Here is the Chain of Command.

Straight from Microsoft Its a qaulity control issue They dont want it to be a *** movie, every1 considers district 9 a failed halo movie even though the film itself was really good, and by the looks of things Avatar maybe using some halo look alike vehicles

In my opinion there putting halo things into now day films discretly see if it works than put it all together to make the film.

District 9 = aliens come to earth and a fight starts( i think)
Gears of war = shooting and action with insane weapons
Avatar = humans and aliens on the same planet and vehicles looking like halo ones
2012=buildings getting destroyed by global issues( could be the covenant glassing planets if put in halo the movie)
Prince of persia= hand to hand combat and focus on a single character to save something
Gamer= a crinimal used as a game character in an insane shoot em up and the guy survives because he used to be in the ARMY

Come on theres somethings in each of these films that can be fitted into the halo the film i no somethings wont work but what do you guys think

Aloysius:If you think about it, Galactus is a giant purple alien who eats planets. Kind of like the Covenant.

    wolver frog
It's official, straight from the mouth of an employee who works on Halo.

    The Covenant eat planets.

Wowww.....This is actually the same exact thought that popped into my head when I saw the trailer for this movie. When I saw the 'hornets' I thought "What? Halo movie?" lol Nice to know that I'm not the only one who went through that.

I only play 3v3 standard. Highest Overall ranking: 2nd.
