thats what i thought. but does anything ever say its inorganic. i mean scientists are trying to create life from non life currently. so wouldnt that be artificial life? but it would be organic

Several times they are listed as non-organic, and that is the main reason that they weren't affected by the Flood, the Halo Arrays, and why they don't care about the "Great Journey." They're mentioned as "Supercomputers," though ONI thought them to be a bio-mechanical species. I can't say it enough, they are NON-ORGANIC. The simplest of searches on Halopedia or the Halo 3 Bestiarium will come up with this.

im not saying your wrong im just curios since ive read all the books, read the halopedia page on engineers and the page on the bestiarium. i dont recall the books saying they are inorganic and neither page give a reference that says they are inorganic. so im just asking you where they are listed as non-organic.

I will try to find some quotes where it says that they're non-organic. It might take me a while, though.
