Mess up in Canon in Halo Wars on first missions?

I looked in the Halo Encyclopedia along with Halopedia--and they say that the Prophets sent the Jiralhanae (Brutes) ONLY to Harvest.  As to not potentially risk having the secret of Humans being Forerunner descendants released due to the artifacts there and such.

However, in the game we face grunts, elites, so forth.

Or is the Halopedia and such wrong?

I think that's idiotic, I think the Halo Wars version is more likely.

After the report on humanity, they sent more aliens.

So it was only the Brutes at first?  Because when Captain Cole came the 2nd time, there was only one Covenant Cruiser--presumably the Brutes one.

A probe was sent and destroyed at Harvest shortly after it exited slipspace.

So they sent Cole's battle group to investigate and most of them were destroyed by the Covenant ships there, so they fell back and later recaptured Harvest.

Re: Mess up in Canon in Halo Wars on first missions?

Well what I mean is.  The Prophets initially sent a Brute Battle Cruiser (or something of the sort) with Tartarus and some other Brute Chieftan to take Harvest--and they crushed them, the humans.  The reason they sent predominately only brutes was because they didn't want the secret getting out to the Sangheili (Elites).

However in the game we have all these kinds of units.  I'm not sure if the sources were wrong or if there's a bump in the game canon or if I just missed something.

The Prophets announced that these humans were taking apart Forerunner relics. So they were titled heretics and everyone hated the humans and so the Covenant wasted no time obliterating the humans.

    Wasn't that after Harvest?

Sorry, I'm a bit lost here--and I need to be more clear for this.

    Mendicant: THIS IS RECLAMATION

Prohpet: Uh-oh, this blows my mind away!

Another Prophet: It'll blow everyone's mind away if we don't become leaders!

    -After they become leaders-

Prophet: There is a evil place out there where humans mess with the relics!

    Covenant: Burn heretics!

    -Back at Harvest-

Johnson: What do you want Al-Cygni?

Al-Cygni: I want your hot body.

    Johnson: Ooooh baby!

-While Johnson and Al-Cygni + survivors are floating away from Harvest, a lot of Covenant forces arrive.

    -Probe is exploded-

-One month later, Cole's battle group arrives-

    Cole: Lets retake some asses.

The first contact between the Covenant and the Humans was the Brutes. Five years later, they were being punished for disobeying the Prophets. This punishment included a severe cut in military activity, as well as technology limitations.

So the very first battle was between Brutes/Humans (Or close to it) and then other Covenant came in? Great, that'll work just fine.

Re: Mess up in Canon in Halo Wars on first missions?

the humans first encountered the kig-yar, but Johnson blew up the kig-yar ship and the unggoy and huragok escaped the Jiralhanae showed up because the now prophet of regret realized that the sangheili would not listen to an order to destroy forerunner artifacts. But on that ship there were plenty of unggoy and yanme'e on board.
