Jimmy Larkins:hey aloysius this is awesome but im wondering, why does the chopper have less damage from its cannons than the ghost? its like 144 to 120 i think, cause in halo3 a chopper's shots could flip vehicles while ghosts were much weaker

    Re: Halo Wars Unit Stats

the one thing I dont get, why did ou have to make it like 1126 hitpoints, there really is no point, just make it something simple, it may be for balance, but really, multis work quite well

final thing, why does new blood not give the marines more hitpoints, I dont think that is right, I mean 3 hits for the arbiter with new blood, 2 before

    Re: Halo Wars Unit Stats

Doesn't Peons add two Grunts to a squad?

Assuming that it does, Grunts get the most impressive damage/HP increase of any unit.  They go from 4 grunts dealing 9 DPS to 7 grunts dealing 27 DPS.  They also end up dealing something like 602 DPS to air by the end, which is pretty ridiculous given that they cost less than a Vampire, but outdamage it anyways.

    Re: Halo Wars Unit Stats

Peons only adds 1 grunt to a squad.  That was a typo in manual for 2 grunts.  Try it in game and it goes from 1 elite + 3 grunt to 1 elite + 4 grunts.  Grunts currently max out at 164 damage to air.  If they fix the bug, they will max out at 429 (approximately same as a ghost) only against air.  They would never replace a vampire for dedicated AA as it has stasis.

Try it if you like, but there's no way in hell that 2-3 Grunts will outdamage a Vampire at the same upgrade level.

And even if they did, their almost nonexistent movement speed makes it near impossible to chase the air units.  At least Wolverines move 3 times faster.

While this might not make grunts COMPLETELY useless since their building damage still sucks at higher upgrades, maybe the covenant can now effectively counter all 3 mainline units with one building, much like the UNSC vehicles.

Using only a VD against Covenant just doesn't cut it. Covenant can counter all of its units quite easily (and vise versa). A Barracks is necessary in most cases.

I said "mainline units", not hard counters.  And I never said to do that against the covenant.

    Re: Halo Wars Unit Stats

I have a question about the upgrade multipliers. If you get 25% hit point boost with each upgrade, is it a compounded growth or do you only get 25% off the base health every time? ie: 100 base health with 7% boost = 107, 114, 121..........or compounded growth = 107, 114.5, 122.5

covenant have no way of countering the vehicle depot well enough. hunters are fail units and will not even stop a tank spam.

    Re: Halo Wars Unit Stats

Regarding:  Covenant not being able to counter a unsc vehicle depot.

The basic problem isn't hunters.  They counter all covenant vehicles and UNSC vehicles, except for scorpion/Grizzly well.  The problem is that canister shell does too much damage at 2,000 to 3,900 a shot from each tank so that they can wipe out hunters before they have a chance to do sufficient damage.  Combine that with the explosive 1.4 multiplier against heavy infantry and the damage is upped to 2,800 to 5,460 against hunters that have a maximum HP of 4695 at assault beam so they are one-shot killed by grizzlies and almost killed by scorpions.

The solution is to change the OP of canister shell.  Either,

    a) nerf canister shell damage

    b) change the multiplier of explosive damage against heavy infantry from 1.4 to a lower number so hunters stand a chance against tank spam.
