Played another game against an ODST spammer on Blood Gulch. Kept him down from the start and held him to one base the entire game. He did manage to grab one reactor, but that was it. He sucked pretty badly, in that he couldn't get more than one base the entire game (2+ hours) and ALL he could do was spam ODST's and turtle at his base, losing every offensive push he made against me.

I kept beating him, wave after wave, and pushed him back to his base 15+ times. The only issue was this: he surrounded his base with 5 Cobras and 5'ish wolverines, so attacking via air was out of the game, and hitting him with vehicles was suicide. I went in with gremlins, disabled his vehicles, cleaned them up with tanks, then planted my own Cobras. It worked beautifully. However, he kept spamming ODST's. I'd destroy nearly his entire team, and then he'd spam ODST's constantly. I once managed to surround his base with Cobras of my own and dropped a disruption bomb so he couldn't drop ODST's - didn't matter. He simply dropped them on the other side of his base and rushed. If I made enough flamers to counter his ODST's, he'd simply push with vehicles.

What's the best counter to someone turtling with Cobras and ODST's? Remember that the Cobras are 5-6 strong and lined and leapfrogged so CS/PT tank micro is pretty much out of the question.

I would say that you just need to work on your Macro skills (able to get units to the front line quickly). If your able to build units just as fast as he can, by using your D-pad to go to your base, and setting the rally point near where all the action is, you should be able to beat him fairly easily.

Oh and BTW, if u want to get rid of the annoying ODST problem, all u got to do is target their Double Reactor. For ODST dropping to work, u need tech 3 or higher. If u lower his tech level, there go the ODST's. Does he have a barracks? Destroy that too. Basically anything that makes units, or helps him get units, u should destroy that.

In your situation, this is what I would do...

Spartans are effective in this situation, mainly because tanks and flamers (which he did not build) are not there. Make those jack the Cobras, and at the same time, stun the cobras u r not jacking. If there are only 5 or 6 of those things, u should be set to start coming in with your tanks to clean up the mess. Go after their vehicle Depot first, making sure there is no possible way for them to get something powerful out. Go for Barracks (If they have one) second, and go for their double reactor 3rd. The reason u go after the reactor last is because it takes longer to kill. ODST's, even when massed, have no chance vs. your tanks (as long as u macro). For even better results, put your spartans in the action, and make sure their spartans don't (KILL THEM!!!).

That combo vs. Wolverines = Fail. Wolverines are decent vs. Infantry.

Spartans can be countered by other spartans, remember that.

Spartans can be countered by other spartans, remember that.

marines are good counter to the medium armour and flamers takes out odst like nothing, spartans will just jack the ones without spartans in them, you will easily out spam him and kill his base(s)

thats what i did in this game and it worked perfectly, i would have just rolled them over with tanks but crevice is really hard for tank micro and not get shot with cobras.

I stand by tank spam.  5 cobras wouldn't be enough to stop it, and they'd tear through the ODST.

That really depends on whether or not they have Spartans in them and how much veterancy they have.  Not too sure how powerful that could be, but it might be enough to quickly wipe out the tanks before they can do more than throw Canisters at one of them.
