    Countering a Covenant Turtle

    It's 1v1. The map: Chasms.

You are the UNSC and you're up big time. You control two bases while you've harassed your opponent into just one. You've just attacked the enemy with an army of hornets, and gauss hogs and took out their temple, their hook, and all but two supply depots. They've teched quickly to heavy turrets and that has miraculously allowed them to repel your army thanks to hunters and vampires as well, but the crippling damage has been done.

You take the time to grab some upgrades before you go in for the death blow. You send a scout, but you meet a wall.

His bases is totally backed up with 4 large turrets, and an equally split army of fully upgraded hunters and vampires. And his Brute Chieftan has made it to a two star and also is fully upgraded. They aren't dreaming of an offensive, but as the battle time pushes thirty minutes you want the game to be over EVENTUALLY...

     (anti-climatic ending alert)

SO, after another 45 minutes of stalemate you simply resign. "gg turtle" is the msg you send.

Ok, so that's my sad and pathetic true story... so, how do you counter a Covenant turtle, with micro skills better than your own, packing turrets, Vampires, and Hunters?

wow dude. you kill everything except two warehouses and you can't win?

to beat this strategy, you first need to acquire more skills.

    What was your leader?

Go max flamers, yes, full T3 flamers.  Kill all the hunters and BC with ease, as they all die replace with Gauss Hog spam (and if Cutter add in ODST spam in there too).  Ignore the vampires almost completely, don't give them more pop to replace with something to counter your units.  The Vampires will hardly do any significant damage.  Go after the front turrets with flamers (They do a lot of building damage at T3 in packs, trust me.) and send hogs around back to handle the back ones.  Again, if Cutter ODST drop back there for hte back turrets too.

    The End.

EDIT: Ronin has a point, if you got that close you should have just kept spamming Hogs on the base and finished it off.

haha I had the same problem earlier today but it was on Release.  He had 3 of the bases, I had 2 but he wasn't attacking.  He had jackals plus hunters and vampires and a PoR.  I used upgraded flamethrowers and wolverines with spartans in them.  And a carpet bomb.

Nothing breaks a Covenant turtle like Vultures and Wolverines. Or Grizzlies and Wolverines.

You could have gotten all vultures and piled his base, then if you're Cutter mac it away and i it's still there drop ODST.

If Anders then cryo his vamps.

Forge, hope a carpet bomb will finish his base.

Bad idea, he's already got vamps and they hard counter vultures pretty ****ing hard, you lose 36 pop in a matter of seconds and get steamrolled as you have nothing left to stop him.

    Re: Countering a Covenant Turtle

Go ahead and make wolverines and flamers. Send in flamers 1st to kill the heavy stuff, then send in the wolverines when the hunters are dead to kill the BC, then just continue to wreck the base and make more flamers as they die.

    Cutter:ODST drop

Forge: Best anti covenant you winer.

    Anders: Hogs/flamers you OP hore.

Dont even bother with Wolves, just go Hogs.  Dont even attack the Vampires so he can't refurbish with counters.
