    Brutes

I'm thinking of writing a Fan Fiction here, and a mighty long one (when I commit to writing a story, expect it to be ridiculously long and the like :P) however I need some help with the community first!

First and foremost I try to keep my stories as original and diverse as possible, no matter what I'm doing.  I have noticed that not many people do stories involving the PoV of a Brute, mostly just awesome elites, spartans, ODST's, you get my drift.  However, let me get to my point--I got questions on lore and the like for Brutes.

-Were they intelligent or, as the game tends to make them out to be, mindless brutes?  By intelligent, I mean strategic and logical thinkers.

-How was their training for combat?

-What is their strength in proportion to a human?

-What does a Gravity Hammer specifically do? If anyone knows.  Is it just a giant piece of sheet metal that flies down at you? It seems more than that.

-How acute is their sense of

           -Sight

           -Hearing

           -Smell

-Is there any lore on Brute reproduction, and life as an adolescent (if there is any at all)

-And if possible a link to a wiki page that can show their home-world, and perhaps a link to (or typed out in summary) of how they got absorbed into the Covenant.

-What was their technological teir? (BEFORE AND AFTER they joined the Covenant)

    Thanks!

    We may have answers

    For you

Korther:-Were they intelligent or, as the game tends to make them out to be, mindless brutes?  By intelligent, I mean strategic and logical thinkers.

    In Contact: Harvest

The higher ranks appear to be intelligent thinkers at times

    But lower beings lose themselves

    To the bloodlust sometimes

Korther:-What is their strength in proportion to a human?

    Far more

I would say that it is similer

    To a Spartan in armor

Korther:-What does a Gravity Hammer specifically do? If anyone knows.  Is it just a giant piece of sheet metal that flies down at you? It seems more than that.

I do not know how it works

But it produces shock waves somehow

Korther:-Is there any lore on Brute reproduction, and life as an adolescent (if there is any at all)

Young Tartarus shows a bit about

    Higher ranking young Brutes

    What I have not addressed

    I do not know

I feel glad that you answer in poems for me.

Anyone else want to input their 10 cents?

    Re: Brutes

As for their technology before the Covenant, they were around the telegraph era. It says so in the book, Contact Harvest.

    Korther:

-Were they intelligent or, as the game tends to make them out to be, mindless brutes?  By intelligent, I mean strategic and logical thinkers.

Yes, they are stated as having a similar grasp on battlefield tactics and grand strategy as elites.

    Korther:

-How was their training for combat?

Intense to say the least, they are part of a warrior/hunter culture and are trained from birth, frequently engaging in all-out honour duels with their peers over minor transgressions, this shapes them into a race of brutal, pragmatic and realistic warriors who won't hesitate before resorting to underhand tactics.

    Korther:

-What is their strength in proportion to a human?

Between 4 and 10x that of a human depending on the age and physical fitness of the individual involved, their largest chieftains and elders are built like brick outhouses and are more than capable of ripping a scorpion apart with their bare hands.

    Korther:

-What does a Gravity Hammer specifically do? If anyone knows.  Is it just a giant piece of sheet metal that flies down at you? It seems more than that.

It manipulates gravity, all gravity hammers use this to generate a gravitic shockwave on connection with a target, this magnifies the strength of the blow greatly, some personalised gravity hammers also possess the ability to manipulate gravity a considerable distance from the user, resulting in things like the BCs vortex or tartarus' pushing the arbiter into a chasm.

    Korther:

-How acute is their sense of

           -Sight

           -Hearing

           -Smell

Their sight is comparable to that of humans as is their hearing, their smell however is more akin to that of a greyhound or bear, they can smell opponents from miles away.

    Korther:

-Is there any lore on Brute reproduction, and life as an adolescent (if there is any at all)

Non that I know of, but they appear to be similar to humans in this regard.

    Korther:

-And if possible a link to a wiki page that can show their home-world, and perhaps a link to (or typed out in summary) of how they got absorbed into the Covenant.

I can't link right now, but their homeworld is doisac(2.1Gs of gravity).

    Korther:

-What was their technological teir? (BEFORE AND AFTER they joined the Covenant)

They achived a native tier of either 2 or 3 before bashing themselves back down to 4, once they joined the covenant they acquired a tech-level of 2.

    Re: Brutes

Hm...I just read something interesting on them.  Paraphrasing here:

"Because the gravity on their home world is almost double of that on Earth (and other planets that humans inhabit), it is completely logical for the Brutes to jump almost 15 to 25 feet in the air on these less dense planets."

That makes perfect sense, and I always wondered how that was possible for a Brute to jump like that.  I guess it's simply that there is a considerable amount less pressure of Gravity on them, so they can jump ridiculously high.

Thanks guys, this really helped ^^
