OmniscientFoe: SPC COMMANDO: OmniscientFoe: SPC COMMANDO: OmniscientFoe: SPC COMMANDO: OmniscientFoe: SPC COMMANDO: OmniscientFoe:Have the UNSC be the equivalent of what the Russians were in Age of Empires 3- Cannon fodder. They had cheap, weaker units that trained faster, and almost always won because of their few elite units and greater numbers that would just eventually wear out the other team's resources.
like the zerg?
no, because the unsc could actually fight pretty well even when they had equal numbers. again POA vs 12 cruisers, 4 dead, at least 1 damaged
Which goes completely against all the canon provided in the books. And they weren't shooting to kill, they sent boarding parties on board and took out the engines and stuff. They would have just gutted the ship with an energy projector if they wanted to kill it. The only reason they had that is so you could have a mission where you start on the ship and fight your way to the escape pod, not just start the game in an escape pod.
it does not go against the books, because in the book, they say 4 ships dead, and a prophet said that they can't destroy the ship because they want Cortana, and they dont want to damage halo.
Read The Flood. Its a book
And you just reinforce my own argument saying that the Covenant wanted to capture Cortana. They weren't trying to destroy the ship, rather, capture Cortana. Which allowed the PoA to fight back. Rather than be destroyed immediately like all the other ships the UNSC had.
ok, either way, i want you to play the level Pillar of autumn and watch the ending cutscene. They shoot the POA with multiple plasma torpedoes, which were supposed to be able to gut UNSC ships. but they didnt, which proves that the ships is amazing. and by the way, that cutscene was made before the books, so i think that determines which is more canon
And what do you know, none of those torpedoes hit where the bridge is located. For all we know, they hit empty space, because apparently, the PoA has tons of empty space. Just driving around in the last level shows that. And maybe, just maybe, Bungie wanted to make the storyline a bit more interesting than, oh ***, they shot our ship and we blew up. Remember the cutscene in Halo 2 where you see the huge earth fleet getting blasted into bits, with huge Halcyon class ships, the same ones as the PoA, getting blown up after one shot? But I have realized what a hypocrite I've been arguing about a fictional game universe with you, because I am completely contradicting what I argued against in that other thread condemning DC Sparta to the fiery depths of the Netherworld. So I'm going to stop typing now.
way to play like DC
Well I have to admit you got me to type again. I am being nothing like DC. I make valid arguments, which you cannot refute, so you compare me to the scourge of the forums? I'm appalled. I would be like DC if I say something like you are a lonely virgin man who lives vicariously online through these forums. Except he doesn't use big words.
yeah.....um......i actually felt rather stupid putting that in, since DC is the kind of nerd that nerds beat on in school. Sorry.
as to your arguments, you made valid points, i made mine. The idea behind the game though is to be fun, not completely realistic
because if the games followed the books perfectly, then 2 plasma pistol shotts would kill your shields, 3 AR rounds would take out a Spec Ops elites shields, and marines would die from one plasma shot to the leg.
Sorry for the argument, im just trying to keep the game fun, and fair. yes the UNSC would need more ships to win, but when your command ship is upgraded it could stand to go one on one with a covenant cruiser from time to time
Good things come to those who wait.
Death comes to those who wait too long.
