    ODST stuff

this is in the halo-verse forum so its allowed before anybody complains :D

Ok has anybody noticed anything different with halo ODST gameplay

    Things like:

They can run faster than a spartan with a plasma turret or machine turret.
    they can flip warthogs
They can flip warthogs higher and further than spartans
they cant stay crouched u need to keep hold of the anolog stick to stay down.
    its easier to kill hunters?

you no stuff like that im curious what other people have noticed to.

Im not complaining im loving the changes im just amazed how ODST's arnt as strong as spartans yet they are better than them with the 1st 3 points

Perhaps this has to do with scale? That or the fact that you no longer weigh 1/2 a ton. I did notice this though.

    they can flip warthogs

Done for gameplay, what fun would it be if once your vehicle flipped you couldn't use it? You would have to avoid every single hill.

They can flip warthogs higher and further than spartans

This I did not notice. I know they had to modify the engine a bit so it may be that. It may also be that scale is coming into play again.

they cant stay crouched u need to keep hold of the anolog stick to stay down.

I think that is a controller setting, check your options.

    its easier to kill hunters?

Not that I noticed, I was even killed a few times by new melee attacks in their former blind-spot(Behind and to the right of them). I think you are referring to their armor popping off in the back though which was changed(I think)to accommodate those who use the SMG to kill them. By the way, you can kill them with a single rocket in set 4 of firefight...

Think that new units/leaders/factions are possible or going to be added? Think again, read the linked thread.

Yes, I noticed this, and I think it strengthens my argument that those things aren't as heavy as they seemed in Halo 3. As there's no matchmaking in ODST, there's no need to put a "nerf" on anyone wielding the power weapons. So as a result, you run at a normal speed.

    they can flip warthogs

That's probably simply for gameplay. Can you imagine how frustrated you would be if once your 'Hog was flipped you were screwed?

They can flip warthogs higher and further than spartans

It only seems that way. Keep in mind that you're physically smaller in ODST, so the perspective is different. In all actuality, it the same- maybe a little less- of height and distance.

they cant stay crouched u need to keep hold of the anolog stick to stay down.

Go to "Game Controls" in the settings menu and change the crouch behavior to "Toggle Crouch."

    its easier to kill hunters?

What difficulty are you playing on? One hit from that shield and you're flatter than a pancake! Hell, I find it hard just to kill Jackals, and that's on Heroic! One hits you with a plasma blob, the other headshots you... freaking Jackal snipers.

EDIT: That's funny that Sean and I said almost the same thing...

i no the weapons aint nerf'd for that 1 reason

very true did'nt think of that

perhaps but u can flip the warthog and it flies off to the other side of the road in the campaign come on in halo 3 it praticly hits u as it flips

they cant stay crouched u need to keep hold of the anolog stick to stay down.

Go to "Game Controls" in the settings menu and change the crouch behavior to "Toggle Crouch."

    OK

Normal tried firefight on heroic jackels kill u in 1 grrrr lol in campaign i did legendary hunters wer'nt really a problem u can stick em now and 3 sticks kill em and i no rockets kill em in 1

It does seem like the game is a little over-balance though. Personally I think they should have increased the weapons rate of fire to, (chief perceived things faster than a normal human and could react faster).

This is a new kind of war, I'm not sure I fit in anymore.

Seems I was faster though ^^

Well, that makes 2 things we have had almost the same view on, the whole "leader feeling" thread being the other.

/like i said i aint complaining and this game aint meant to be balanced because of 2 things:

1 to make ODST feel Badass = They succeded lol

2 Theres no matchmaking so nobody can complain about weapons are OP when your on the same side against the AI

I just noticed that bungie say things are put to scale coz ur not a spartan so u cant jump higher and things and yet u got them moving faster with a turret lol and sending warthogs flyin 10ft in the air when spartans where slow and flipped them right in front of the player

    Re: ODST stuff

My only gripe has nothing to do with the ODSTs, but it is the lack of a Battle Rifle.  I mean, they have Spartan Lasers, maulers, firebomb grenades, spike grenades, and spikers, which all made appearances in Halo 3.  But no BR?  What gives, the suppressed SMG sucks.  I would much prefer a BR.

Exactly, they can't do that because us gamers are humans. Excluding our soon to be Robot overlords like Aloy  of course.

That would make muzzle jump/recoil annoying as hell. As it is the Halo 3 SMG jumps quickly, imagine how much faster it would be going up if they made the rate of fire quicker.

Bungie didn't like the BR. I forgot where I heard it but they said they didn't like the fact that you had to be good with it to be good at the game. Since their wasn't any PvP in ODST they added the pistol to bring back that Halo 1 feel. It works better than the BR since it is meant to kill grunts/jackals/no armor brutes. Also If you don't like the SMG clearly you aren't an AR fan. In my OP it kicks the AR's ass.

the guy that chose what weapons to go into the AKA paul bracken i think is his last name. He hates the BR and dual wielding and decided to leave it out the game and said that the smg and pistol separate the roles of the BR.

The bungie team stayed out of that decision so the hate mail goes straight to him about the BR and dual wielding it was announced in the PAX interview and in there previous VIDoc on B.net
