we did a elephant rush as a joke and it kinda worked. we killed one guys base and he got a expansion so he didint get put out of the game, but anyways it became a hour long spam fest(i had to spam odst to keep pressure off our bases and to force them to go anti infantry while my teammates teched up). we ended up winning with vultures.

I made the same mistake once :(

Went to unlock my base and clicked 'A' on the Self-Destruct button, without realizing it I hit 'A' again on the confirmation, I lost all my hornets :(

I tried something simular to that one game for fun.

I got 2 bases up with full SP, and parked 3 elephants on opposite sides of each other around his base just out of his LOS. I then queued up marines in all 3, and set the rally points near the base. I just kept queing more marines nonstop even though they were being slaughtered. Going in to RPG every once and awhile. (only tech 2 marines.) 

 The constant pressure eventually overwhlemed them and I took them out. It was a pretty fun game actually.

My teammate called me a fine gentleman and threatened to quit when he saw my elephants heh.

If you have the economy to do a proper spam, then it does work quite well. It kind of reminded me of the good ol ling spams of starcraft.
