First of all I know it's a title rip-off of Transformers 2(Not good with titles). I tried an earlier attempt at this but never worked on it. The story takes place 60 years after the events of Halo 3.
Halo: Return of the Fallen
Prologue
It's now 2613, the 60 anniversary of the end of the Human-Covenant war. If the Elites didn't join forces with us, well I'd probably wouldn't be here telling you the story. Although the war was over, the UNSC had to rebuild the lost colonies and in 2570, the URF rose again taking advantaged of the moment of weakness. The Elites began to rebuild and the cleansing of those loyalist scum. However, in 2574 a beacon of hope became realized by both Human and Sanghelli citizens, when both government officials signed a treaty creating the Human Elite Alliance or the HEA. It wasn't bad at all, with the Elites backing us up, the URF and those *** loyalist were no match. Reparation for the fallen colonies were sped up greatly, we now have 10 colonies back up and running including Mars. We felt invincible, like there was no force that could threaten us. Little did we know, an old foe would return stronger than ever and with a new powerful ally.
Chapter 1:
"First day on the job and your asleep Recruit? GET THE HELL UP!" screamed Sergeant Michael. The alarmed Hunter Ryans woke up immediately, " Sir what is, have we been attacked?". "No were over planet Muerte now, get suited up, we're dropping in 10!" Planet Muerte, like it's name suggested the planets pretty much dead, nothing but a barren desert. But intel suggested that the URF were operating from a base some where on the planet and the crew of the New Hope wouldn't pass an opportunity like this. Not only is the ship unique, but the crew itself is as well. The New Hope is the only ship that was made by both Elites and Humans, it uses a mix of plasma and kinetic weaponry, has enhanced shielding technology and is the fastest ship in the fleet. The crew was also made up of Elites and Humans.
"Hunter, I see you are preparing to drop as well, I look forward to fighting with you on the battlefield", Hunter smiled "looking forward to fighting with you too old friend". The Elite talking to Hunter was called Keno 'Ahsasee, a childhood friend of Hunter, both were born on Mars. While Hunter was an ODST, Keno was a Special Operations Elite and was eager to test out his new jump pack. *The speakers turned on* "Keno, Hunter report to the drop pods". "Was that the Captain?", "No, I believe that was the ship's AI, Vivian" said Keno. " Oh, well see you planet side". "So long my friend". Hunter ran as fast as he could to the ODST drop pods. There at the pods, four other ODSTs were waiting for him, including Sergeant Michael. "Well aren't you tardy to the party" joked one of the ODSTs. "Give him a break Tom it's his first drop, hi my name's Leah. The tallest ODST walked forward "My name is Hikaru, welcome comrade". Pointing a finer Hikaru said "This is Tom AKA the Joker". "Pleasure to meet you fresh meat" Tom said with a grin. "So this was my squad" thought Hunter, " A very attractive female with a sniper, a giant with a machine gun, an angry sergeant in his 40's and and a psycho with a rocket. Well this will be interesting".
As soon as the New Hope was over Muerte, all the drop pods launched and the squads were inbound for what should be the most important battle of the war. "So Hunter, how do you feel" Leah asked. "Okay I guess, stomach feels a little funny but nothing else, so I'm just wondering how old are you? You look like you're in your teens" Hunter asked. Leah smiled "Yeah I'll be 19 in 3 months". " Oh cool, I just turned 20", Hunter said thinking to himself "This is my chance". Then Sergeant Michael came on the other screen "You two ladies done talking!" the sarge boomed. "Sir yes Sir" The two said it with out even thinking. "Good, we're here"
At that moment the pods landed and the hatches shot off. "Lock and load" the sarge screamed. The squad was eager for some action especially Hunter who was looking for some action since boot camp. "Hey newby, try not to lose your head, ha ha". Joker laughed. Jokers laugh creaped Hunter out, it sounded like how a demon would laugh. "Don't let Joker's jokes bother you, he does this to everyone, just stay focus on getting to the enemy base" Hikaru said calmly. Hunter nodded, he wasn't going to screw this up, he was going to be a hero. These rebel scum wouldn't stand a chance against the HEA and the prototype ship the New Hope.
Keno and his squad met up with Hunter's squad by an abandoned drill. "Looks like no one has been here for a long time" Keno's squad leader Oboy 'Ergudee said. "I agree we'll tell Vivian to have a pelican and phantom drop off a warthog, a mongoose and a spectre. " No need sergeant, they're already on their way" Vivian bragged. Hunter was stuck in the passenger seat while Michael drove and Leah shooting the main gun. Joker hoped on the back of the mongoose and was ready to kick some ass, while Hikaru calmly started the ATV.
"Alright, reach the AA gun and shut it down, if you can do that you can expect additional troops and some hornets" Vivian said with a sign of hesitation. Did she think they weren't going to make it, or maybe she saw what was to come.
Chapter 2:
Hunter couldn't believe how everyone wasn't making a big deal about this suicide mission, 5 humans and 4 elites would have to kill about 200 guards, but he knew they could do it. "Recruit", "Yes Sarge". "I'm not going to lie to you, this is going to be tough, our entire army is counting on us to disable that tower, you think you can stay alive". Hunter hesitated for a second, considering that he might actually die while waking up the stairs." know I can stay alive Sarge" replied the now confident Hunter. "That's the answer I like to hear" Sarge grinned.
Keno's squad began to cause the diversion, immediately 50 guards ran out side to see what the commotion was all about. You could imagine how startled they were when they saw 4 Special Operations Elites with Plasma Rifle raised and Oboy's Energy Sword drawn. Those foolish guards were no match for the barrage of plasma fired from their rifles. Hunter could see one rebel with a shotgun charge at Oboy, not only did he die, he was sliced into 4 pieces, even the gun was destroyed. "All those who go against the Alliance will perish before my blade" said Oboy while putting his blade away and with that they proceeded to cause more havoc.
The ODSTs began to run to the control room of the AA gun. "So what's your story Hikaru?" Hunter asked. "Nothing interesting, was orphaned at 3 and joined the military at 18. If you want to hear a story ask Leah or Tom". With that Tom began talking "Well I was born on Lu....". An angry Sergeant screamed " NOW'S NOT THE TIME FOR STORY TELLING". "Jesus Christ Sarge you always ruin my fun". Sarge just gave Tom a dirty look and Tom just shut up. The control room, was surprisingly heavily guarded. "Okay Hunter, now it's your turn". Hunter pulled out his silenced SMG and began to quietly take out the guards and slowly making his way to the operators of the AA gun. "Well it seems like you all arrived right on time". Hunter recognized that voice, it was the voice of General Vacas, one of the three leaders of the URF. "You boys are quite a handful". Leah angrily rose her hand " I'm a girl". The guards took a quick look at her chest, and pervertedly laughed. "Well now, I didn't know we had a lady here." Hunter raised his SMG "Okay, now here's the deal, you get the *** out of my way when we set the bomb, or I'm going to blow off your *** head. "Hmm, a tempting offer, but it seems you are out numbered". Joker smiled " But you are clearly outmatched" pointing at the window behind them. The 10 guards looked at the window and were killed by shots from plasma rifles.
Keno's squad had used their jump packs to jump up to the control room and eliminated the remaining guards. "What should we do with this one"? Oboy asked pointing at the now cowering General Vacas. "I'm sure the officials at the UNSC would love to have a chat with him, wrap him up and take him to the Pelican when they drop off the reinforcements" Sarge was clearly happy everything was going according to plan. Tom set up the bomb for 60 seconds " Okay now let's run before we end up well done". Everyone ran to the second floor and jumped out the window barely dodging the explosion. "Why the hell did you set the bomb for 60 seconds?!" Leah screamed. "Hey it adds to the drama" Tom laughed. "Will you two shut up for 2 minutes, New Hope this is Sergeant Michael, AA gun is down. " Roger that sergeant, reinforcements are on the way".
Hunter smiled as the Pelicans and Hornets arrived. The Pelicans brought about 60 marines, 4 Scorpions, 2 Warthogs and the Hornets would be a great help when they assaulted the main base. But, this still would be tough, not only did the enemy have home field advantage, but they greatly outnumbered them. Then he saw 3 Phantoms fly down with Banshee escorts, they dropped of 60 Elites and 3 Wraiths. Now their chances greatly increased, now they were ready to destroy the URF once and for all.
*On board the New Hope*. Captain Ryan Burns, began to worry. The ships AI Vivian was starting to act a little funny. When he asked Vivian what was the matter, she merely gasped and said "They are nearby", "Who"? "The fallen".
Chapter 3:
*Onboard unknown vessel* " How are the preparations of the invasion fleet going"? "Going as planned Sire". "Good, we will make those vermin pay for what they did to us". "As you wish, Prophet of Revenge". Revenge smiled to himself and dismissed the Chieftan. He gained the title Prophet of Revenge because of his shear hatred towards the humans and elites. On the day that Truth had died, he vowed revenge towards them. "Brother you seem happier than usual". "Sorrow, today is the day we make those vermin suffer for their insolence". The Prophet of Sorrow was banned from the Covenant and was forced into exile. When Revenge found him, he had made his own personal hover throne equipped with a heavy sentinel beam and heavy needler. Another Prophet approached them, "Not only will we wipe out their pathetic races, but we shall activate the Halo's and be with our Gods. "Prophet of Anger, it is good to see you again. The nearest planet with humans on it is a planet that they call Muerte. We will destroy that planet and announce our return. "Agreed" said Anger and Sorrow. "We will reach the planet in 60 minutes" said a nervous Grunt. Revenge smiled, this would mark the end of humanity.
The assault on the rebels' main base was long and brutal. It took about 2 hours to get from the AA gun. As soon as the HEA forces reached the Rebel base, they were greeted by rebels ranging in the nine hundreds. Minotaur tanks and Griffon gun-ships were powerful, but they were no match for the cobras and wolverines that were dropped off during the assault. However the URF troops were prepared, they had automated turrets with rail guns and missile launchers. Clearly, they weren't going to give up one of their last precious bases with out a fight.
Hunter foolishly charged the enemy with a group of marines. The marines were mowed down by a nearby machine gun turret, if it weren't for the Scorpion tank that drove in front of the bullets, Hunter would have met the same fate as the marines. "Hunter, what the hell do you think you were doing"! Leah screamed at him. "So what, if he got mowed down by that gun, hell there'd be a replacement for him in two weeks tops, or do you have a little crush on the new guy"? said Tom grinning. " Uh...... I.....don't mean it like that it's just that...". "Ha, Leah's got a crush on the new guy". It was obvious Tom was going to use this against her. Although she was wearing her helmet, Hunter could tell she was blushing. "Now's not the time for gossip, WE'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A WAR". Sarge was determined to win this, after all this battle could end the URF once and for all.
In the heat of the battle, a powerful beam shot down from the sky and burned the land and killing both URF troops and HEA troops. "What the hell was that"?! Screamed a terrified marine. One of the huge outdoor monitors on one of the buildings turned on. "Too Humans and Elites alike, WE HAVE RETURNED". Everyone gasped at this uncomprehensional news. Humanity's worst nightmare has come true, the Covenant have returned. " I, the Prophet of Revenge speak for all of the members of the Covenant when I say you all must burn. We will cleanse the universe of your kinds. Your pathetic alliance is no match for our new found powers. The destruction of this planet, marks the end of your race"! and with finishing that line, hundreds of banshees, ghosts, wraiths, 2 scarabs and hordes of Grunts, Hunters, Brutes, Jackals and some species that weren't even known of.
The pure destruction that followed the waves of plasma was unimaginable. All of the HEA survivors ran for the evac pelicans and phantoms, however, out of the 20 evac birds, only 5 managed to evacuate to the New Hope. "Vivian, GET US OUT OF HERE"! ordered Captain Burns as the last evac craft landed in the docking bay. "Aye aye sir" and with that, the New Hope jumped into slipspace and escaped the destruction of planet Muerte. Hunter, couldn't comprehend the fact that the Covenant, the aliens who nearly killed the human race to extinction. "You okay Hunter"? Leah asked. "I'll be fine, I just need to be alone for a little while". "Okay, if you want to talk, I'm here". "Okay". At least Keno and his squad made it, but an entire planet was destroyed in a matter of minutes. "Maybe I'll feel better after a good night sleep" Hunter thought to himself.
The officials at HEA officials were worried, unlike the previous Human-Covenant war, this Prophet of Revenge aired his speech to all 10 colonies. They needed a some one who could take down hundreds of Covenant infantry by himself. They needed the Chief. Only problem was, he's been dead for 60 years. The Spartan III's weren't strong enough to take down the Covenant armies by themselves. It seemed that Humanity and the Sangheli were doomed. But little did they now, that salvation would return to them.
Chapter 4:
"Anyone mind explaining me WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON"?! screamed the Ambassador Freedmen of the Human Colony of Eve. "Calm down Freedmen, at least the rebels are no longer a threat". Ambassador Williams of the Human Colony of the planet Charybdis. "Surely, trading a small resistance for an unstoppable force is a fair trade". said Ryho 'Lahodee of the Sangheli colony of Helios. "Enough arguing! We should be fighting the Covenant not each other. said Ambassador Smith of the human colony of Earth. As Ambassador Smith finished his statement, the entrance door to the meeting room slid open and a woman in a lab coat walked in. "Ah, Professor it is good to see you. Gentlemen, this is Professor Alexandra Helena, she will be our expert on the Covenants new technology and species". "Thank you Ambassador" Professor Helena said as she brought out a data pad. " Not only has the Covenant gained newer technologies, but new species as well". A hologram rose up from the pad and projected an image of a huge alien with stone like skin. "These aliens are called Drilnols, they seem to be unable to wield weapons or wear Covenant armor, however they are able to withstand most projectiles and due to their incredible strength, they can smash through most armored structures, in fact they even rival our Cyclops exoskeletons mk2's".
The image of the Drilnol vanished and an image of an insect like alien came up. "These aliens are referred to as Stalkers by Grunts and Jackals. While they may lack the intelligence to build machinery or to form a government, they are incredibly vicious and will kill anything in their way. Even nearby Covenant troops are in danger of the Stalkers. However the Covenant seemed to have solved this by implanting a small device in the spinal cord of the Stalkers". The Stalker image vanished and the image of the final species rose up showing an alien with long ears, a tail and wore power armor. "The Final species are called Reavers. Reavers wear interesting gloves which allows them to project energy over their claws. This energy is similar to that of the Elites' Energy Swords. Due to their Energy Gauntlets, they have more precision, they can't lose their weapon and they can to more damage to our armored vehicles. This however isn't our greatest threat, what makes them truly powerful is the fact that they have the ability to teleport in short ranged distances".
"This is all fascinating, but what about that planet destroying weapon". said Ambassador Anderson of the Human Colony of Troy. "I was just getting there Ambassador. This weapon works by firing a crystal like projectile which penetrates the planets surface and enters the planets surface. After the crystal reaches the center, the ship fires an energy beam similar to their cleansing beams which reach the crystal at the planets core. After the beam reaches the crystal, it refracts of the crystal in every direction destroying the planet with multiple beams from the inside out". "Hmm, and how did they gain this new weapon"? asked Ambassador Ckno 'Ishodee of the Sangheli colony of Sol. "My team and I believe this weapon is of Forerunner origin". said Professor Helena. "That would explain why this weapon is so powerful, but this doesn't make sense, what are they after this time? said Ambassador Smith. "I am not sure yet, with further research, we might be able to determine what it would be". said Helena.
"Screw the research, we have a galactic war on our hands and all you care about is finding something they're looking for. Here I'll save you some time...... THEY WANT US EXTINCT! We what we should do is send out those prototype soldiers, what were the called again!" screamed Ambassador Anderson. "No it is too early to send out the Titans, besides you know they don't care about our men or the alliance, they would just kill anything. said Ambassador Dillons of the Human colony of Mars.
The production of Titan super soldiers began towards the end of the Human-Covenant war. Unlike Spartans, they wore not only power armor, they had active camouflage and jump packs. However they thought they were Gods and superior to everyone else. There are only 5 Titans, and they hate each other and the alliance, but they wouldn't pass up an opportunity to kill.
"Hey Cronos". "Yeah Typhon" "The HEA called they want us to kill the Covenant". "Finally I was bored killing those other 3" pointing to the recent dead bodies of the other 3 Titans. "Yeah, after this, let's go kill some Humans and Elites". "You read my mind". Cronos and Typhon, the sons of the Devil himself. The two lacked any emotion and their blood lust never ends. But the HEA needed their helps. In the end their blood lust would be their undoing.
*Unknown location 10 years later* "Undoing, what do you mean by that"? "I mean when they found a target, they would go to any lengths to kill it". "Interesting but you didn't answer my question". "In one of the battles on neutral battle grounds, they went berserk when they saw me, they were cutting through Covenant and HEA troops alike. When they reached me, they encountered an Elite who jumped in front of me to protect me, and if they didn't kill him, I'd be thanking him right now." "So what happened"? " Grabbed the Energy Sword and then I cut a hole right through Typhon. The other headed for my squad mate, the bloody *** detonated the c4 he had on him and killed both of them". "That must have been hard for you". "Yeah but it was only fitting that a Joker kill a Devil".
Chapter: 5
*Onboard the New Hope* "Ugh where am I"? Hunter thought to himself as he woke up. "Sarge, he's up. It's about time too, I was getting bored of just sitting here". "Easy Thomas, it's been a rough time for all of us" said Hikaru. "How long was I out"? asked Hunter. "Bout 15 hours, did his majesty get his beauty sleep"? joked Tom. "Dam, I was out that long"? said Hunter. The New Hope was the only ship to escape the Covenant fleet, none of the URF ships made it. What made Hunter worry was how did the Covenant manage to destroy Muerte. *The speaker turned on* "All crew prepare for landing we are approaching the Pegasi docking station now". The Pegasi is one of three massive docking stations. While most docking stations are only made for only UNSC ships or only Elite ships, but the Pegasi has the equipment to repair both kinds. It is actually the only one besides the other two that can fully repair the New Hope.
"The damages were that bad"? said Hunter. "It's not just the hull, we need to restock on supplies, troops, fuel, weapons and vehicles" said Leah. "I heard we're getting some Rhino tanks". grinned Tom. Rhino tanks are the most superior land vehicles. They maybe slow, but they make up for it in fire power and heavy armor. The Rhino can also lock down and become a stationary artillery gun. "Beautiful, I can just picture the mayhem now". grinned Tom. "Get ready Hunter, we'll be docking in 30 minutes". said Sarge. With finishing that, the others left the room and Keno walked in. "Are you well old friend"? asked the Elite. "Just needed some sleep". said Hunter. "I can not believe that the Covenant have returned" "Me neither. But it just means they're gonna get their asses kicked twice as hard". "I hope you are right Hunter". *Speakers turned on* "Crew we are now docked at the Pegasi, please refrain from drifting away from the ship" said Vivian.
*On board the New High Charity* "Congratulations brother, the destruction of the planet was a success". said the Prophet of Sorrow. "I will not be satisfied until the entire human race is cleansed from this galaxy". said the Prophet of Revenge. "Well maybe this may satisfy you" said the Prophet of Anger. "We have narrowed the search for that artifact that you were looking for down to three planets. The Human colony Troy, the Human colony of Mars and the Sangheli colony of Sol". "Excellent, we will begin the search immediately". exclaimed Revenge. "Quite amusing though, that our ancestors didn't know that Halo was a weapon". said Sorrow. "Hmph, than you are as foolish as they were brother". said Anger. Two Brutes entered with a chained Reaver. "Noble Hierarchies, this heretic has been caught stealing one of your sacred artifacts". said one of the Brutes. "What will you do to me, I'm more powerful than you pathetic Prophets". said the Reaver. "No you are not". and with that, Revenge pulled out a hidden modified plasma pistol and shot the Reaver right between the eyes. "Most amusing brother" said Sorrow. "Burn the body and return the artifacts to me". ordered Revenge. "Yes" the Brutes left the room dragging the body with them.
"So we have almost found it then"? said Sorrow. "Yes the blessed artifact will bring us to our Gods, and then we will use the gifts we will receive to destroy the humans and elites". said Revenge. According to Revenge, when the forerunners built the Halo array and the Ark, they built somethings else, something far more powerful than the HEA could imagine. What if the Halo array and the Ark were apart of something much bigger.
* The Pegasi loud speakers turned on*" All HEA ships, Sol is under attack by Covenant forces, I repeat Sol is under attack"! said a woman in the control room. About a dozen ships rushed out of the docks and a dozen more would follow within the hour. "Vivian I want the New Hope leading this fleet" said Captain Burns. "Aye aye sir". Hunter began to worry. "Why the Covenant attack Sol, more importantly how did they even find out about it's existence. Unless, does Sol have a hidden Forerunner artifact?
"Alright, we will be at Sol in one hour, get ready men" said Captain Burns. "Uragh" echoed through the ship as every Marine rose their guns or saluted. "Captain, the HEA officials have sent us a message. Apparently, they are sending two super soldiers to aid us in the upcoming battle". "You mean the Titans, right". "Correct". "Dam, they are just a bunch of cocky bastards. But i suppose they will increase our odds of winning". sighed Captain Burns. "Very well Captain. 40 minutes until the fleet approaches Sol". "Alright, let's bring home a win".
*Unknown location 10 years later* "More powerful than we could imagine, what do you mean by"? "God your questions are becoming repetitive and annoying". "Well sorry, but I didn't experience the things you have". "Well what I mean is that there was more to the Halo array than we knew about. Hell, I mean what did they tell you about the Halo array"? "Well they told us that it was made to eradicate all sentient life in order to starve the Flood". "Bingo we have a winner. In all reality it turns out that is half of it's function". "Half"? "Yes, half. However it requires a certain signal for that other function to be activated." "And that function would be...."? "I really am not too sure. But my source may have some info on the matter". "Your source is here and has been listening to us"? "Yeah, ain't that right Guardian". "You are correct Reclaimer".
