I've been saying this for months now:
There are two problems, independent of eachother, that cause gauss to be overpowered:
1) It oftentimes directly beats its counters (this is being addressed in TU3)
2) The mobility + building damage allows the gauss user to control the game even if the opponent has a sufficient number of hard counters to win the fight (this is not being addressed in TU3)
I don't believe gauss is getting nerfed hard enough in this patch because of #2. If I have 10 gauss hogs and you have 3 scorpions (equal cost), I am still going to win. I will just wait until you move your scorpions out of your base and attack you. Turtling in your base is surrendering map control which is a loss.
