jocamar: As for biological warfare, the UNSC evolved from today's world. 500 years into the future, today's biological weapons could be treated like a simple flu.
I'm taking that you know little of biological warfare...
Below is just a scenario;
- 40 UNSC marines enter an area that holds a biological substance, all of them are infected.
- Of those 40, 11 get wounded within a day, those 11 are taken up to two different naval vessels. On their way up, 30 more wounded soldiers are infected, along with the pilot and medics on the transport.
- The remaining 29 meet their friends and fellow soldiers, let's say each of them has 3 friends and 3 other squad mates. That's a total of 203 infected just right there. The two naval vessels with the infected wounded each have a total of 70 wounded(not including the infected). So there's 151 each on those two ships alone. The pilot and medics would be infecting another 40.
- The 203 infected on the surface would triple up to 609. On the ships above the crews would be getting infected, let's say that there's 1400 crewmen on each ship, as the substance passes on, half of the crew would be infected.
So then there's 2160 in all so far.
- The 609 on the ground would triple again, up to 1827. Of that, 150 of those men are wounded. They are taken up to 4 different ships. So now there's six infected ships in orbit. 2800 crewmen on the 4 new ships are infected
There's now a grand total of 6787. Multiply that by 10x(for the infected areas that UNSC soldiers had entered.)
67,870. And this is all within half a week... Double in for the other half, and there's 135,740. There's one week, and still no one notices. Double that for the second week, and there's 271,480.
On the Fifth Week, over 1 in a hald million UNSC soldiers are infected.
By the time the UNSC notices that their men are dieing from an illness, and not their wounds, it would be too late. The substance had evolved into multiple different branches, making it more immune, less noticed, and faster spreads.

About the AI dicussion(if that's what I think I saw)...
The USB slots of today are fairly small, the chip that Cortana is on isn't made to be inserted in today's USB slots. So AI's can't hack into the modern today computer because they can't fit. I'm not sure about military 'hook-ups', but I'm sure that the AI chips can't fit...
