    Re: Flood, alive or dead?

I am not going to comment on the matter, it seems pretty understood that the Flood had to have lived, in some shape or form, but Bungie did say they were done with the Halo Trilogy. I think that is their way of being sneaky, because the Halo Trilogy is over, but they can still expand on the series, like Lord of the RIngs, and The Silmarillion, and Unfinished Tales.

Oh and Here;s a link that I go to often for Halo stories and just general information:

    http://blog.ascendantjustice.com/

They have tons of blogs that are just very analyzed parts of the Halo series.

      http://blog.ascendantjustice.com/halo-3/the-terminals/a-voice-from-the-tomb-i/

That section^^^ talks about the Forerunners b4 they disappeared and it talks a lot about the Flood.  They found their information from the Halo 3 Terminals in that section, so it is all true.

I'm not sure I understand who you were "aiming" at. If me, well I always try to spell correctly. Call it OCD or just being nit-picky, it's what I do.

    Re: Flood, alive or dead?

i thought at the end of halo 3, the rings were all distroyed not just the ark. i thought the self distruct was for the whole system.

the ark was out side the range of the rings so life could go on and come back after the rings fired. the flood can die and does if you shoot it enough.

since they came from another galaxy then maybe they will be back.

I hope we get to be spartan IIIs in halo reach but what ever...

    Re: Flood, alive or dead?

most likely since halo and halo2 both had flood imprisioned in the rings i would have to say that there are flood in each ring

    Im Allhere:

i thought at the end of halo 3, the rings were all distroyed not just the ark. i thought the self distruct was for the whole system. It wasn't a "self-destruct", the second Installation 04 just couldn't handle the firing sequence so it basically shook itself apart, resulting in a large explodion.

the ark was out side the range of the rings so life could go on and come back after the rings fired. the flood can die and does if you shoot it enough. This made little to no sense. It wasn't the Ark firing all the Halo array in the Milky Way at the end of Halo 3, it was only the second Installation 04. It was a local blast meant to destroy the Flood and Gravemind on the Ark alone.

since they came from another galaxy then maybe they will be back.

I hope we get to be spartan IIIs in halo reach but what ever... Very, very doubtful. You never hear mention of them in The Fall of Reach, so it's likely that they're either still being trained, or on another planet. I don't think we'll see SIII's in Reach.

    Re: Flood, alive or dead?

As far as the Halo: Reach convo goes, there COULD be Brutes in it and that wouldn't breach canon.  It was the Brutes that made first contact on Harvest according to the novels.  They could be in it in some form, but probably not mainline troops like the Elites or Grunts.

Now, the Flood is definetely still alive.  They were hibernating until they were released in Halo Wars and Halo: CE. There was no Gravemind at that time yet the infection forms were still around.  Unless the Sangheili and Humans do a planet by planet sweep its impossible to say the Flood is gone, especially when you take into account that the Flood took nearly every Forerunner planet and the Forerunner civilization spanned the whole galaxy.  There could be thousands planets filled with Flood.

    It will always be around.

No, they can't. Here's why. Yes, the Brutes were an operable extension of the Covenant during Harvest, and were the first contact between Humans and Covenant. However, due to their failure in the eyes of the Prophets, the Brutes were taken from military action and placed on Guard duty on High Charity and some Covenant Cruisers. They were not allowed to wear armor- as seen in Halo 2- and were forbidden to take place in combat. With the schism of the Covenant, the Brutes were restored to power- after the fall of Regret, no less.

If we were to see them in Halo: Reach, we would have to either infiltrate High Charity or a high-ranking Covenant Cruiser or Flagship. Even then, there would only be one or so. As it was difficult to get ships off-world, I see this as being a null option. We've more chance of encountering Huragok than Brutes.

    Re: Flood, alive or dead?

Granted, but armor or not I still think we could see them in their Halo 2 form.  I just find it hard to believe that the Prophets would not send in Brutes with the ground forces or as rear echelon troops as you said.  They had to start somewhere.  What if the battle of Reach was the event that helped propel the Brutes/Tartarus into the limelight so to speak?  One never knows what the machinations of the Prophets are between novels or games.

    Re: Flood, alive or dead?

The Prophets wouldn't have sent them into battle. That's their punishment. The only reason they were re-instated into combat was the death of every prophet but the one that supported them; Truth. With the other two prophets alive, there's a very very very slim chance the Brutes would be allowed to enter into combat.
