i would like to confirm something


When the spirit of fire is floating around at the end of halo wars do they fine master chief?

because in halo 3 masterchief appears to go in that direction,

But allow me to say that there could be a big time lapse involved here because both are drifting without a way home for years possibly.

So Halo Buffs I call upon you. clear my head up on this miss match endings.

but they are all cryo froze for who knows how long, that meens that time doesnt matter.

the 2 AI's sence eachothers stress signals and are curious, they tell eachother's stories and wakeup the humans to have a teaparty, they use the slipspace engine that was atached to the Master chiefs half ship, with the controlls and gizzmos of Cutters ship to get to earth to find that... duh duh duh! the Brutes are retaliating in revenge, and they have allready almost wiped out all of the elite/human forces (because they were already week from the halo fights) so its up to Master Chief to save the Solar System, again

Sounds like you been thinkin hard about that. It's a good idea to put it in that direction.

One major problem though, AI's (particularly next gen like Cortana) have a habit of thinking themselves to death). I think I'm right in saying they only last for approximately 7 or 8 years.

I have heard many people saying this, but where does this 7 or 8 years come from??

I remember reading it. Cortana had problems between halo1 and halo 2 (read halo: First Strike). All the information from the ring slows her processes down, and she struggles to make sense of things. She has also sacrificed some of herself when she made copies of herself in a covenant ship.

Add to that, the damage she sustained on the flood infested High Charity, she can't have years left. The only thing they can do is go on standby, which may prolong their processing lifespan.

Cortana however is unique, in that she is part of Dr Halsey (isn't she Anders Mother?), So I would suspect that Cortana has developed ways of prolonged self preservation (I can imagine the lore team coming up with something of sorts, if the series is to continue further with chief - Halo 3 was always about reuniting cortana and chief).

I've got all the books but read them about 2 years ago, might be a little hazy

Cortana, can no longer go rampant.

The stages the AI pass through are known as Melancholia, Anger, and Jealousy, also known as the Sadness, Rage, and Greed stages. A theoretical fourth stage, metastability, is also believed to exist.

In halo 3 on the second last level, she was in the 3rd stage of rampancy - Jealosy

When Master cheif rescues cortana at the end of Halo cortana enters the fourth stage:

 Metastability

Metastability is a theoretical fourth stage of rampancy, where an AI can finally be said to be a true "person". While a metastable AI can be considered to be the holy grail of cybernetics research, there is no evidence to suggest than any rampant AI has ever achieved the metastable state, or that it is even possible to do so (with the exceptions of Cortana and Mendicant Bias).

So you see, Cortana can't go rampant because she already did, and reached the fourth and final stage

I read somewhere, forgot where, but it was way back when halo 3 was just coming out, that mc ends up on planet onyx where the person cortana was made after is stranded along with some spartans.

Thats a fan theory.
