Re: Music - Where's the music?

The thing is, with an RTS, you have much more protracted playing sessions; up to a good few hours for one game. Hence, I would imagine that the music is going to be lighter and less dramatic, in order to allow for user actions; the Halo theme may work great in Halo 3 when you're kicking covenant ass, but do you really want that same music to pop up whilst your collecting resources etc.

I trust that Ensemble will provide a suitably good soundtrack; the Age of Empires one have always excelled, so I'm sure we're in good hands :)

of course not during the less dramatic sequences, but there you can still have good and quiet music, building up to the combat. Also in the campaign you can have certain sequences where the heavy and dramatic music appears.. a good example if you ask me is ground control 2.. there were some sequences were the music was just great and the timing just as good.

I thought the music was alright from the start it gave the feel of urgentcy as the warthogs speed past into the area and the music when marines are getting cut down by the elites give it the sence of halo but with a twist of sorrow because some guy just got killed and then it going of into the battle music where they are charging at each other and ships are flying everywhere I thought it flowed rather well and it can only improve if anyone thinks it bad.

I like this music way better then Halo2 emo music. You kids could go to your room and play your emo music and cry to it and cut your selfs.

    Quazar:
First of all I am a huge HALO fan and if bungie trusts you guys to make a great addition to the HALO family I am all for it.  I have watched the trailer over and over and I was missing something.  The CG work was great and it was great to see the type of environment that will be created but I got to say without Mr Odonnel's music it feels a little dry.  I went back and watched the Halo 3 trailer and a huge part of the trailer is how the music score pulls you along.  This looks like a great project and I am already a huge fan, but we need better music.

No music makes it a bit more serious and more realasistic like a real battle. Because in a real battle nobody will be there with a god damn radio and playing it whilst everybody fights. :)

I dunno, I have some mixed feelings. While I watched this trailer, I did miss Marty's music. After watching the trailer a few times, I actually liked the score it had. It had a sorrowful-melody type music to it when the marines were killed. Kinda drew me into it more. Personally I hope that specific song is released. **hint** release it!

I am shure, that Marty is "a bit" swamped by making she score to Halo 3 right now, and that is why he had no time to write a score to the trailer. I relly hope, that Marty will have the time to write atleast a few original songs to the game.

Re: Music - Where's the music?

Marty is part of the Halo game. For me he isone of the most carysmatic members of Bungie. Since the frist time I saw him, he was someone at Bungie that i feltthat is part of the success of halo.

Halo music is something i love in the game, music is as gameplay and History the most important things of Halo.

Re: Music - Where's the music?

I thought the music was good. It was a good adaptation of the traditional score.  It also allowed the video to seem a bit more distinct from Halo 3.

    Music and Such

I am super excited about all this Halo universe expansion, but I gotta ask one question. Is Marty O' Donnell gonna be involved in the music creation process? I'm a huge fan of the AOE Series, and even got the old collectors edition with thesoundtrack, but i have a huge amount of move for Marty's music. I just want to know if we can expect more of his greatness in this and other Halo endeavors

    Re: Music and Such

Good question. I hope so, it'd be a little wierd if the music was off. Although I'd probably get used to it, but that's besides the point. XD I like my things original.

Re: Music - Where's the music?

I have listened to the Halowars trailer again and again....After some time it does start to stand on its own merit, but there is a huge void for me still.  I recently played thru Halo 1&2, and the music puts you in so many situations along with the action.  I just hope the score that is used is reviewed and apporved by Bungie (I am sure it will be) but the negative person in me just wants this part of the game to rock.
