Re: Halo Wars 2? A theory...

Here's what factions I think should be in Halo Wars 2.

FACTIONS IN GALACTIC MODE : - UNSC (Playable faction from start of game)

                                                       - Independent Colonies (Non-Playable emerging faction)

                                                       - Insurrectionists (Non-Playable faction from start of game)

                                                       - Covenant Loyalists (Playable faction from start of game)

                                                       - Covenant Rebels (Non-Playable emerging faction) <only Playable in specific timeline-orientated campaigns>

                                                       - Heretics (Non-Playable faction from start of game)

                                                       - The Flood (Non-Playable faction from start of game)

                                                       - Forerunners (Non-Playable faction from start of game)

FACTIONS IN MULTIPLAYER MODE : - Covenant

                                                             - UNSC

                                                             - The Flood

                                                             - Insurrectionists

                                                             - Heretics

Re: Halo Wars 2? A theory...

The Spartan IIs are divided into groups of 3 Spartans per unit and a varying number units per team. In ground battles each Spartan II will be deployed in units and moved individually like in the Halo Wars campaign and each team will have a different colour of stripe on the model of each Spartan II (with mjolnir armour), with the exception of Gray Team which will have fully gray armour. Unlike Halo Wars they will NOT be knocked out and able to get up again, they will just die. The Spartan IIs have the 'Hijack' special ability.

    Ideas for Spartan IIs : < Blue Team > Alpha Unit = John-117, Samuel-034, Kelly-087

                                                           Beta Unit = William-043, Linda-058, Keiichi-047

                                                           Gamma Unit = Fhajad-084, Maria-062, James-003

                                                           Delta Unit = Randall-072, Cassandra-014, Mike-068

                                     < Red Team > Alpha Unit = Frederic-104, Li-008, Joshua-029

                                                           Beta Unit = Vinh-030, Isaac-039, Anton-044

                                                           Gamma Unit = Malcolm-059, Grace-093, Kirk-097

                                                           Delta Unit = Jerome-092, Alice-103, Douglas-042

                                  < Green Team > Alpha Unit = Kurt-051, Sheila-106, Tom-017

                                                           Beta Unit = Gary-099, Rene-124, Thai-005

                                    < Gray Team > Alpha Unit = Jai-006, Adriana-111, Mike-075

(I used a few made up names, but other than that all 33 Spartan IIs that survived for the battle against the Covenant are here.)

The Spartan IIIs use SPI armour and have the 'Camoflage' special ability. (All unit models are the same) They only become available to the UNSC faction after a certain amount of gametime. There are 3 companies, each made up of a varying number of teams. They are deployed in fixed teams of 5 with no particular names like the Spartan IIs.

Ideas for Spartan III's : < Alpha Company > Team Wolf Pack

< Beta Company > Team Echo

                                                                    Team Foxtrot

                                                                    Team India

                                                                    Team Lima

                                                                    Team X-Ray

                                                                    Team Romeo

< Gamma Company > Team Gladius

                                                                     Team Katana

                                                                     Team Saber

(Unlike the Spartan IIs, who start off already recruited and positioned on UNSC planets, the Spartan IIs have to be recruited on Onxy at a reasonable cost.)

Spartans in Multiplayer : Un-named Spartan IIs/IIIs should be purchasable at the UNSC base in multiplayer.

I agree it would be class if you could control UNSC or covanent war ships

???Endless??? They would have already trashed the storyline completely...and the war with the Covenant would be over. Not to mention that the UNSC would have a huge advantage with the Forerunner technology information Cortana retrieved from the first Halo.

yes but there both lost in space they have no contact with earth and dont forget the freaky planet at the end of the Halo 3 legendary campaign

Re: Halo Wars 2? A theory...

    1. What freaky planet?

    2. The Chief and Cortana were stuck at the Ark which is outside the Milkyway galaxy and the Spirit of Fire is stuck at the Shield World in the galactic outer rim. They're both drifting dead in space...even if they both had operational slipspace drives it would take them hundreds of years to reach each other, not to mention the Chief is stuck in only half a ship...how is that ever going to work again? they're missing their bridge and entire forward section, he was only able to use the pods because they had a seperate power supply. Besides, they would run out of fuel long before they could get to each other, so in short it's a bad idea that hasn't been thought through.

    3. You mis-spelled they're.

Re: Halo Wars 2? A theory...

    ---SPACE COMBAT---

How about having the standard ship vs ship strategy combat that's classic in Star Wars EaW, however with noticable differences.

How about being able to board and fight inside enemy ships while a space battle ensues, with the ability to capture the vessels for integration into your own fleet.

I can't think of a strategy game where you can do that. Mainly because, if you could, it would make the game quite tricky to play what with all the levels to it in strategy and possibilities. This could be solved however if there was a system where you could activate an AI that controls some of your units (e.g. AI controls your ships and their interiors while you control the units inside a particular ship. In-ship maps could be like the level of Halo Wars where you fly through the planet, only your units are actually inside and the rest of the map is space, or distant planet atmosphere. There could even be mini battles raging between some fighters outside the hull and the main weapons could fire on the in-ship map at the same time as they fire on the space map. If you even wanted to go so far as to turn the in-ship map to match the space map the you could just rotate the background.)

This could be furthered by having features like a bridge, hanger, engine room and weapons room that the enemy attempts to destroy on the in-ship map to disable them on the space map.

You could even go so far as to be able to order an evacuation of your ship, where everyone scrambles to get to escape pods and transports in the hanger.

They would not make too much sense to be able to play as. They can't manufacture things, they simply steal what they get from their victims. Everyone playing against them would have a huge advantage.

the flood are all controlled by the gravemind and are all allied. Having Red team flood vs Blue team flood contradicts that.

because cutter - PoR - forge vs anders - anders - arby follows the canon much better than flood vs flood

It does actually. If you've played Halo 3 then you know that Humans and Elites ally against the rest of the Covenent(Even more Cov are on your side in the end of Halo 2 if I recall.) So the whole humans and covenant working together thing does make sense. They CAN get along. Having a team of: Cutter-PoR-Flood vs Anders-Arby-Flood would make no sense. When have you ever seen a group of Flood and UNSC or Flood and Covenant working together? If anything, they would have to make the flood a rouge team and instead of whining over not being able to play them everyone would whine over that.

Sorry if i'm bringing this back up, but all three of these factions allie temporarily when working towards common goals. An example is that the Arbiter (Halo 2/3), Master Chief and Gravemind allied to stop the Prophet of Regret activating halo.

good point, i forgot about that. and also in halo 3 when MC and the arbiter team up with all of the flood forms (gravemind) on the level you the get the IWHBYD skull to take out the prophet... sure it didnt last long, but it happened (<-- lol)

Both are temporary and the flood turn on them both times. Allied? Try a ceasefire.

Think that new units/leaders/factions are possible or going to be added? Think again, read the linked thread.

They actually didn't want them to become like the zerg and so that(amongst many other things) led to them not being used.

we were just pointing out that it happened, i still dont get why you wont admit that its possible to make them playable. its 100 percent possible for them to be playable factions if they want them to be. and from what weve seen and heard, its possible to do that without breaking the canon. they can even invent another storyline, a stranded group of somebody (marines, flood, or covanent) has to temporarily team up or something with another to beat the other. there was a crazy elite in one of the books that was allowing the flood to take over his ship, im sure he wasnt the only one to view the flood as a holy relic type thing. im sure they can make something up that would be cool.

no alarms and no surprises please.

Ever since I finished Halo Wars, I've wanted an addon or sequel where you play as the Covenant and fight the UNSC at Reach.
