    Traditional RTS game play

Cosnidering 'if' it will be 'training' different units from different buildings, will we get different variations and strategys? for example we got a building that trains elites but there are serveral different options, 'an elite with a sword'. 'an elite with a plasma rifle' an elite on a ghost'. and so on this way it will make up for the lack of units in the halo universe to make an RTS out of it.

Something like Dawn of War I'm assuming? If Halo was originally designed as an RTS I don't think they have a lack of units. If I may speculate, I think by going from RTS to FPS actual units might have been removed which now resurface.

Discussion on game platform: 360 v PC

I'm not a fan of RTS games on consoles, mostly because its harder to be precise with the console controls.

I think it would be a wise decision to open this game up to the PC market after it is sold for the XBox360 if you want to make it viable for most gamers.

Kinda like Halo 2 Vista. I'm sure it could happen.

Im glad its exclusive because it will provide more support to Xbox 360.

Just think of it this way, seeing as its being designed for the 360 they will make it work with the controls... seeing as there is no porting invlolved

Re: Xbox360 Exclusive == Not smart for RTS games?

I'm willing to bet by the time Halo Wars debuts on the 360, Microsoft or a third party will have announced a mouse and keyboard set for the 360 exclusively for that game. It'd be an awesome profit opportunity for other companies.

Also, I'm 100% sure in time it will end up on the PC. Microsoft loves money, and with all the LIVE Anywhere stuff, they won't shun an entire group of gamers. Remember how they said Halo 2 was to be 'exclusive'?

Re: Xbox360 Exclusive == Not smart for RTS games?

Well, until now, the controls were hard on consoles. However, the game LOTR, battel fore middle earth 2, which was released on 360, actually has really good controls even though its a console. So with some thinking put into the interface, the controls shoudlnt be a problem. Still, I agree that releasing halo wars on vista would probably be a good idea. Some people jsut arent console literate.
    I need some sleep.

Halo has always been associated with the Xbox Brand.  If anything, you might see Halo Wars go to the PC two years after its debut on the Xbox 360.  It brings Xbox 360 sales and also AAA titles to the console.  Its good to be a Xbox fan in the day and age!

    Re: Why ES? WHY?!?!?

why not? there arn't a whole lot of people that play halo games only on the pc, so why only have it on pc? it will attract more gamers on the 360.

Re: Xbox360 Exclusive == Not smart for RTS games?

Maybe it might be Microsoft's way of saying, "The X360 is not only for certain genres but it is made to include everything." Thus paving the way for the X360 in becoming a ultimate gaming machine. I mean before this you had to go to the PC to play certain types of games, especially for RTS, and making RTS for consoles and proving that controls and multiplayer to indeed work on a console it will encourage more developers to make RTS which can be successful on a console. Ultimately the aim is to include all types of games and expand on the ones that are lacking.

Not unless ES and Bungie take advantage of the two USB ports in the front of the console.  Hook up a mouse and key board and your ready to go.

Re: Xbox360 Exclusive == Not smart for RTS games?

im glad its 360 only, this will show other devs that it is possible to do an RTS on a console, and we may start getting more great games of the genre in the future
