I've changed my mind and actually agree with the MODs now.
For they're right, the PMs will, are and have been used very inappropriately in the past, it's essentially doing stuff behind the MODs backs. You may say why don't they ban certain people from using PMs?
Well then they would firstly have to enable an option to monitor all PMs, and then secondly read through all of them. Imagine that, I'd say 300-1000 pms get sent a day possibly, that would take alot of effort and time to monitor it.
So if they can't prevent the innapropriate users, then they're gonna have to stop everybody, in order to prevent the bad users.
Just imagine now.
If you wanted to plot a spam/flame attack agaisnt a user for tommorow night, how would you do it via the forums?
PMs. That's how.
But if there were no PMs, there is no way you could possibly do this without the possibility of being caught early.
The MODs have to stop the bad over the good. The forums will live with PMs gone, but if they stay, the possibilities of what might happen is pretty bad.
If you really want somebody to blame, blame the people that did the fake BETA PMs. They brought PMs to the attention of the MODs, they showed them how PMs can so very easily be misused. So you can blame these guys for ruining PMs. Sure there might have been other times PMs have been used badly, but this is the first time it publicly got out, so thanks to these guys, the MODs have no choice but to remove the options to PM, so as to prevent this from occuring in the future.
For remember, if they were to manually ban those users, they would have to manually look through every PM in that time period to find who was sending them out. That is alot of PMs.
There we go, hopefully I've shown some people the MODs have no choice.
