    Halo Wars Update 12.14.06

    12.14.06

    Tis the season...

Every year here at Ensemble Studios we send out a holiday card to our friends, family, and those who’ve helped us out over the past year.  The card is put together by a select artist from here at the company and usually reflects the work that the company is currently doing.  This year's card was created by Ensemble Studios artist Brett Briley, and features a peaceful scene for the holidays.  We would like to share the image and the sentiment with you all this holiday and are offering this new desktop background:

    Happy Holidays
    1920x1200
    1600x1200
    1280x960
    1024x768

The Ensemble Studios holiday party was held on Friday, December 9th. As part of the pre-party festivities, the team took time off from their daily Halo Wars playtests and got together for a 4v4 Halo 2 tournament...to celebrate the season, by talking smack and virtually killing each other.  After getting behind early on, the red team stormed back to take a commanding lead, winning the final game with a rocket launcher shot for punctuation.  The photo below shows the winning team of Matthew Goldman (Art Director), Nick Currie (Playtester), Stephan Lebrun (Programmer), and Brad Robnett (Programmer).  Congratulations guys!  The runners up, who did give them a good run for their money, were Alex Scott (Artist), Brian Dellinger (Playtester), Chris Moffitt (Artist), and Bill Jackson (Producer).

It’s always exciting for the team here to see the launch of a new fan site, especially from the guys at HeavenGames who’ve been amongst Ensemble Studios’ biggest supporters over the years.  Check out the latest addition to their network, Halo Wars Heaven.  There is already a fan fiction contest going on over there, and I’m sure Watchwood and the Heaven team will have plenty of coverage on the game in the months ahead.

You'll be hearing more from us in the New Year.  Until then, best wishes and happy holidays from Ensemble Studios!

    3rd post w00t

lol the grunts in the card

    no new info :(

all well I hope there's a big one in janruary because if there's not grrr

if they have already made the cover for halo wars I believe it may be in the card picture

if you look carefully there are five games in the picture.

I only recognise one cover as age of kings as that is the only one I bought.

What team were you on, Thunder? Or were there any MOD's playing at all?

    Re: Halo Wars Update 12.14.06

I just stayed out of the line of fire during the Halo 2 tournament. :)

I believe that Brett stashed all of our game boxes throughout the Christmas card image, and a few other little odds and ends.

Edit: Whoops, newguy must have been replying as I was typing.  To answer your question, Paragon is on the community team with me.

So, the community team just tells everyone on the design team what we are saying, and designs the web page?

    Re: Halo Wars Update 12.14.06

Yeah, that would be cool if all the MOD's had sigs. Too bad Paragon deleted his. Now, it's harder to tell the size requirements for the sigs.
