This is just the first chapter of an admiral's and Sargeants fight after the events of the first halo. Feedback would be appreciated.
Admiral Daggers of the fifth fleet was just waking up when the battle stations siren came on. He began running along the main corridor of the cruiser ‘Victory’ when he heard over the intercom “Frigate Explorer is damaged and about to explode, prepare for shock wave”. “Carla, seal all bulk heads except for the ones in my way to the bridge” Daggers shouted. He looked on the view screen and saw the Explorer take multiple hits as it moved to cover the Victory. It exploded and sent a shock wave that could barely be felt. He knew his fleet wouldn’t last long being only 6 frigates, 3 destroyers, a carrier and a cruiser, the Victory, his flagship. He kept running. When he got to the bridge, he sat down in his chair and turned to the tactical display. His mission was to get to a planet where the Elites were going to join with the humans to fight the Brutes and Prophets, who had betrayed them.
He decided not to risk his small fleet and ordered “get us out of here now, jump to hyperspace”. “Sir, frigate Warrior can’t jump to hyperspace, their captain said he’ll distract the covenant” said the Comm. officer. “Give him my sincere thanks, Navigator jump when ready” Daggers replied. As they maneuvered, the Warrior launched everything they had, literally, escape pods were on a collision course with a covenant frigate. The Warrior downed two enemy ships which really got the covenants attention. All Daggers saw, was twenty plasma torpedoes heading straight for the Warrior before they jumped to hyperspace. He knew the consequences if this mission failed, but he was determined to save earth from destruction.
He was only a new Admiral, and what’s left of the UNSC was trying to defend Earth and Mars (which was now a large shipyard and weapons platform. Humanities only choice was to join with the Elites. As he was travelling he realized he traversed near Sigma Octanus, a system which Captain Jacob Keyes had defeated 2 covenant frigates, a destroyer and a carrier with only one destroyer. Daggers knew that the covenant had superior technology and numbers, but having the elites on the human’s side would tip the odds. He began thinking about how it all started on Harvest when a mysterious ship was reported, and when the UNSC was trying to communicate. And it took two years for the UNSC to realize what they were up against. “The United Earth Space Corps” he chuckled “it would take a miracle to save what’s left, I just hope the Elites will join”. He knew that he might not return but he pledged he would not let Earth fall.
