    Logic vs. Fun

I have to ask, do you guys want logic to take some of the fun out of the game?

Now I'm not saying that Master Chief can fly, but some things just have to be accepted. The deal with the Scarab in the demo, too many MAC shots? Are you kidding me? Spirit of Fire is a new ship that can fire six MAC shots. You see what I did? I made something up because people don't care that ships can only fire one to three shots. They don't think out the mechanics of Forerunner artifacts, they blow 'em up! Sure the game would still be fun with all of this intense logic and thought. But would it be anywhere near as fun as if you could be forerunners, fire ten MAC shots, control 117. People aren't going to not but the game because it is slightly off, but they will if it's not fun.

    Where do you stand?

    Fun vs. Logic.

definatly more fun. but some logic is required, like ur example of MC flying =P. logic is what call of duty is for =P

    Re: Logic vs. Fun

    I'm for 65% logic, and 35% fun.

MC should just be in the editor.

There should be multiple ships in order to fire that many.

This is what I'm talking about. You guys are open to ideas and you seem to be the right kind of people to make good suggestions. You understand that this is a game and not a true happening.

Just an added note. Pink guy, you're right. Some logic is required to hold the game together, I completely agree with you. I'm proposing we take that logic and build off of it to make a fun and imaginative game with logic at it's core. I'm waiting to hear from some of the "big guys" if you know what I mean, the seniors. That's gonna be fun.

if there is an editor, which would be crazy awesome. but the only thing that should be changed is the mac. it should fire like twice but be four times as strong or something.

if only i knew how to put a picture here i would.

The MAC in the demo was just for "campaign testing purposes only" It most likely that there won't be a MAC power in the final version. Also no chief or editor. ES has confirmed both as a no.

As for the topic: If you have too much logic, the game won't be as fun since everything has to work like it would in real life.

Ex: Infantry die after one hit. Vehicles require fuel to operate. Sniper can pick off infantry from across the map.

If there is too much fun, it'll be too silly and kill the game.

Ex: A squad of spartans can take on a army of covenant and a scarab singlehandedly. Infantry can get shot in the face with a nuke and survive. A couple riflemen can give a tank battalion, and give them a run for there money (Red Alert)

Never draw fire; it irritates everyone around you.

For every action, there is an equal and opposite criticism.

    Re: Logic vs. Fun

    lets put it this way

if ensamble botches the Halo storyline... then they will sell well at firts... but once word gets out that the game *** up the story then people wont buy it any more.... ensamble will have thousands of angry fans screaming on their forums... their inbox will be flooded with hate mail....

a lot of people care about the storyline..... if it wern't for the storyline I wouldn't even like halo that much,.... as there are better FPS's out there

    Re: Logic vs. Fun

    75% logic-25% fun.

Like how people say we shouldn't mine for resouces in Halo Wars because it is un-logical to gather resouces on the front lines. What they don't get is that it's also un-logical to have un-limited resouces in the SOF... because how can the other colonies possibly send resouces to the ship to be used in battle? They can't.

I say ignore 'some' logic to make the game fun and we should mine for materials.

It has to be fun, but they better get the logic right or everyone will kill them

    Re: Logic vs. Fun

I bet we can all agree that flipping a tank over in Halo was un-logical and not cannon, but they had to have it... there has to be exceptions to make the game more playable just like any other game.

How was flipping a tank non cannon when the cannon hadn't been invented?

By the time of Halo3 and 2 it had been invented... if they wanted to they could have taken it out in Halo 2 but they didn't. They had reasons for not taking it out.
