    Re: Contradictions with the Storyline

Sorry to bump a post this early on, but the battle rifle is in fact mentioned in the novel first strike. It happens when Fred and Kelly get through the  security barrier in the ONI mountain base. Fred comments on the rifles lack of ammunition and the mounted scope. He mentions that he hopes that accuracy and power replace the loss in ammo, which is a direct refference to the changes in the battle/assault rifle between halo and halo 2.

    Purple Soap:

The fact your own message has its fair share of contradictions is enough for me to stop reading it. I think the exclusive 360 is an excellent idea, his name isn't "John Spartan" the "SPARTAN" project is a UNSC planned expierement to test 150 young (9 years old) children and rule out around half (winds up 70) in order to create a squad worthy of fighting future powerful enemies. Which, as fate has it, are the Covenant. His Name is John and only John. You never hear of his last name nor of his family. John is Spartan #117 of 150. Spartan 117 is a Master Chief Petty Officer  and leader of all the other Spartans, hence, Master Chief.

umm they were 6 years of age when they were examined and they dont rule them out they just die.

You are correct with them being six, but they did "rule out" about half of the original number.

"But we have one hundered and fifty test subjects to consider, and the facilities and funding for only half that number. It's simple mathematical elimintation, Lieutenant. That child was one of the lucky ones--either that or he is extraordinarily fast. Either way, he's in." -Dr. Halsey FoR

But half of those 75 kids DID die when they were augmented.
