Having read both of the Halo books, there are serious conflictions with the storyline. People said that the armor in Halo 2 was the original armor and that John Spartan was stuck with the prototype in the meantime, but this is totally false. The chief was equiped with the lateast equipment, being the MJOLNR armor that he wears in Halo 1. The only difference between the one in the books and the one in the game is that the shield wasn't nearly as developed, and so was pretty week.
The assault rifle is exclive to the Halo 2 universe. Never did in the books say anythihng about an Assault Rifle of Halo 2's design, but instead, referred to the "Battle Rifle", being the gun used in Halo 1. Now Cortanna is introduced in the books, making it logical that she is with him in this game, so don't get confused about that.
Now, more detail about the armor. The original suit wasn't even nearly as detailed as the original version in Halo 1. I'm pretty sure it was a designers desicion to advance the armor even more than from Halo 2, seeing that the general demand for cooler and cooler things is always higher than the previous day. That might explain why the armor is cooler than from Halo 2, but it doesn't fit the storyline. Halo Wars is going in the wrong direction, and will probably be critisized by a lot of hardcore fans and normal fans alike.
Another big problem is the game being exclusive towards XBox360. An RTS is not meant for console games, which why about 99% of them are for P.C. I suggest making Halo Wars for PC a real option, but then who am I, I've only worked on a few games and run an online gaming community.
The idea is awsome. It literally gives me goosebumps, but you need to express some real serious details that will just make the creators of Halo Wars look like idiots.
