Supreme Commander of Particular Justice is blamed for the destruction, stripped of rank and becomes the Arbiter.
The Monitor of Installation 04 turns a group of Elites into heretics, who the Arbiter is tasked with crushing.
Delta Halo is found, Master Chief kills Prophet of Regret.
Truth changes the Honor Guard due to Regret's death.
More or less civil war starts.

Technically, Master Chief started these chain if events, so yea I would say that Master chief HELPED bring down the Covenant's downfall, after all Cortana helped A LOT.

Without the Arbiter's help Tartarus would have activated Delta halo and we all would have been f'd in the a, so no, chief didnt do it single handedly. He helped though.

Well,the Arbiter killed Tarturus and the Prophet of Truth so no but Chief mainly brought them to their knees.

I agree with the light, match and flame analogy. However, I disagree with the statements going around that the master chief did not singlehandedly took down the Covenant. In my opinion, he did.

He killed MANY flood on Halo, singlehandedly destroyed Halo, helped kill an entire armada of Covenant, and contained most of the flood on Halo. He commited all of the acts that we see in the games, plus MANY more that are listed in the books. He singlehandedly took down the second Halo in Halo 3. HE did it. I would not count Cortana as a character; she is part of the master chief, integrated into his suit and mind. So, when you talk about Cortana, you talk about her.

The Arbiter; what did he do? Wow, he killed Tartarus; big woop. He did nothing else of importance; in fact, in the games (Halo 2 & 3) he was just one big pain in the ***.

I would have to say that the master chief definitely singlehandedly took down MOST of the covenant and flood threats, with miniscule help along the way from other characters.

If I may make an analogy of my own; Say the characters were related to buildings, and the higher the building, the more responsible for the covenant downfall they are.

 The Arbiter killed Truth in Halo 3 and stopped him from taking over the galaxy once all resistance was destoryed by the Halos.They both had important parts in destroying the Covenant.

I disagree with your hate on the Arbiter because not only was it fun to play as him in halo 2 he was a badass allie in halo 3....but I guess the MC fanboys just cant stand a 2nd badass character xP

He killed Tartarus which like it or not saved everyone.Serioulsy what was johnson going to do?If Arbiter didnt show up and save him and the other mariens the brutes would have killed him,and Miranda being the only one left is useless.And guess what MC wasnt on the delta halo at the time and was not heading for it,so YES Arbiter saved everyone as without him Tartarus would have activated halo and everyone would have perished.And in the end if you look at it realistically without the elites the unsc would have been screwed against the covenant fleet above the ark,and if after everything that happens in the halo series if MC would have been the only one to truely do anything then well he would be the most overpowered and brocken character ever.

Masterchief and the Arbiter took down the Covies, but Masterchief did most the work.  Every thing the Arbiter did in Halo 3 the MC could have done.

The truth is, that without the Arbiter, or help from the Sangheili, humans would be seriously screwed. Also, if MC killed most of the flood on Alpha Halo, then why is he RUNNING FROM A WHOLE ASSLOAD OF THEM AT THE END? I thought he killed them, hmm? And if MC is so badass, and did everything on his own, then how come he's not the one who killed tartarus, or stopped the rings from firing? I didnt see MC talking the Shipmaster out of glassing the entire planet. Oh right, the Arbiter did. And where exactly was MC while the Brutes were massing their forces and invading earth? Oh, thats right, he was sitting on a ship whacking it while he waited to even GET to earth. So dont go all MC fanboy on me, because MC may be the roxor, but he isnt the ONLY roxor.
