    Are Marathon and Halo connected?

I think no because bungie says they arent.  And that they just like to add things from previous games into their other games.  Lemme know what u think though

show me a quote where bungie says their not connected... theres too much in common with the 2 games for them to not be connected

if you dont show an exact quote AND the source where you found said quote... you will not be taken seriously...

Why would Bungie make an entirely new story when they can just change the Halo story? It's much easier, and alot of people want to know more about Halo. It would be utter foolishness in terms of business to make a new series of games when they still have Halo to use to its full extent.

    heres a good connection

Marathon 1 takes place in a ship that is orbiting Tau Ceti IV, and there is a system in Halo called the Tau Ceti system... Tau Ceti dosn't exist in real life....

you play as a cyborg why has been frozen for 200 years... cant remeber what has happened and is believed to have had an AI take over his mind...

halo 3 ends a little over 200 years before Marathon... and cortana was in the ship with the chief... and the end of legendary halo 3 suggests that your floating twoard a populated planet...

unfortunatly, smart AI's have an average lifespan of 7 years. cortana is already (i think) past that. se will become corrupted and die wothin the decade, not two centuries. still, there are MANY similarities. it's kinda freaky.

Re: Are Marathon and Halo connected?

    Yes because...

    *SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

At the end it showed the MC and cortana, who will not be in the marathon series because her 7 years ran out, floating towards the planet.  I have not played the game but I heard that marathon starts out with a ship crashing on a planet and a cyborg getting out or something.

Also, there were 2 marathon games, and in the legendary edition johnson said...

"I'll see you in the next trilogy, I'm in it, right?  RIGHT?" So that leaves me to conclude that they are going to complete the marathon trilogy, and in the long run continue the Halo story line, by making a third marathon game.  Of course, it wouldn't quite fit in with the marathon games graphically or technology.

Re: Are Marathon and Halo connected?

i agree that marathon is alot like halo. but i don't neccecarily think they are the same. i think bungie just gets ALOT of their plot ideas from marathon. maybe the next trilogy will be alot like marathon, but it will not BE marathon. just very very similar.

I thought that the smart ai's had to learn to much to become corrupted, and that the 7 years is just average.Floating desolately in space isnt the best place to do that.Couldnt she also shut down some of her systems or something to prevent that?

i suppose. still, she would have to do something to occupy her time. she may endup lost in thought. remember, they don't neccecarily die from information overload, they just learn so much that they think about what they've learned so much that they forget about keeping themselves alive.

Re: Are Marathon and Halo connected?

my theory is that she tries to extend her life by merging her mind with the MC's in his sleep... this fails... she is destroyed... the MC looses him memory... and believes that he is just a normal human (in accordance to the marathon cyborg)

Re: Are Marathon and Halo connected?

Interesting... well I don't think they are directly connected, Bungie has a lot of subtle links to marathon in halo, but I don't think they would directly tie them. The next few books and spin-off games may explain it.

Heres a tidbit of info thatll keep you guys talking... Bungie DID in fact say that the Marathon Cyborg and the Master Chief are two incarnations of the same character.
