    Re: Halo Wars Update 09.24.07

i know this thread was made a  long time ago but i would like to add my input:

I'm not too good at putting thoughts into words but for halo wars to truely reflect the feel of ''halo'' there has to be multiple ways to progress from one side to the other side of the map (even if its a valley, or a very open area with a straight forward direction to go, there were at least 2 or 3 ways to flank the enemy in halo1) it needs lots of cover too...i noticed in the runthrough/intro video for halo wars that in the beginning wen a squad was ordered to attack a group of grunts they pretty much sat attacking in one spot without moving much, when they could have attacked from inside the base. what im trying to say is the AI has to be fun to play with(obviously) for example,(in halo) its quite hard to make a head on attack on the ''bad guys'' but if you flank them its much easier. this makes for easy and fun gameplay, but only because you are playing smart and not being stupid running head on.(anyone getting what im trying to say?) when u have your units attack they should spread out and try to find cover first, regardless of what the cover is. if you are able to move your units nd flank the enemy, the enemy should easily be defeated unless they have cover to protect from the flanking units.(but seriously, u only try to flank if they are vulnerable, not if they have cover lol) the enemy should also try to find cover and do the same flanking maneuvers. if two infantry units are stuck in a battle that is lasting too long...and there is nowhere to flank them from...then you take the opportunity that the enemy is distracted and run a warthog right through them and then have it gun them down from the back while your troops charge head on and the enemy infantry gets splattered see? it was hard to fight the enemy before, but with the right tactics, it was easy and fun....watching the enemy get demolished before your superior strategy...not because u had units that were strong agianst the certain type of enemy infantry and were able to stand in one place and mow them down. hope this helps with the AI question ^_^

    Re: Halo Wars Update 09.24.07

What makes a good ai to play?

ok  easy is have lesser tactics but not send in 1 man and hope he wins. easy has a slightly slower build rate. minimal threat

Med is ok tactics and stands a chance of beating you

Heroic (I like the easy norm hero and legend) is has the same build time good tactics and has a balance of attack and defence basically your average player. Poses a threat

legend same as heroic but tactics are immense launches attacks hat leave your forces separated, big threat   not invincible but very close

    Can the ai coordinate?

The ai must coordinate. I have had lots of games with AIs that leave me shouting " you ***** go over there you *********" ECT I wont be happy if I do that with HW

    Can the ai beat me?

Well like I said before it depends on the difficulty

    How should the difficulty work?

    Rotaretilbo:
I've always loved the numerical system, say from level 1 to level 10, but I think that the RPG-ish suggestion earlier would be really useful. However, you could probably get away with doing four levels: Easy, Normal, Heroic, and Legendary.

I think the easy normal heroic + legendary is a good system to have makes it more halo

Sorry if I ask the impossible

ohh i forgot you need some sort of becon to tell ai where to go and the need to know if you mean hold ground here like if it's by a building getting attacked or CHARGE!!!! if it's an enemy base

    or just different becons

    =]

And that tougher difficulty brings new missions with it, and a tougher enemy always means you need to use new tactics
And on the 8th day, God said "let there be Halo." Bungie said "Say Please."

That's basically the same thing as a new mission.  Unless you mean on multiplayer.
