    goat89:

Hi Halo fans! I have been wondering what kind of ship type does the Spirit of Fire fit into? There are 5 types of combat ships in the UNSC Navy.  Namely: Cruiser (Pillar of Autumn), Carrier (Musashi), Frigate (In Amber Clad), Destroyer (Heracles) and Corvette. Well, I do know that the Spirit of Fire is a Phoenix Class ship, with its designation CFV-88, and it holds detachments of Marines, Vehicles (M808B 'Scorpion' Main Battle Tanks)  and Aircraft ( D77-TC Pelican). Of the 5 kinds of ships stated above, only 2 were designed originally for that. They are the Carrier and Frigate types. However, the In Amber Clad's designation is FFG-142, while the Spirit of Fire is CFV-88. Usually such designations, as seen in ships today, are grouped in the same way. Thus, I conclude that the UNSC Spirit of Fire (CFV-88) is a Carrier class, though other ships, such as the Halycon-Cruiser type Pillar of Autumn, has been heavily modified for the Spartans II's mission, I highly doubt that the Spirit of Fire is a heavily modified ship of a different class but those of a Carrier and possibly of the Supercarrier (Trafalgar) types. I would like to hear your thoughts. I have to log off soon and wont be able to check in for another 12 hours. Hope you all can discuss in my absence.

PS: Note that the brackets are fine examples to follow to. And that current US Navy Aircraft Carriers bear the designation CV,CVA & CVN. Very close to the CFV-88 designation!

you raise a point BTW. the Halycon-Class are pretty outdated only two where re-activated, Pillar Of Autum and Dawn Under, they were replaced by the Marathon Class, which we see on Halo 2 at the beginning, also the Spirit Of Fire is a Phoenix-Class Colony Ship RE-FITTED for combat during the covenant war so its likely the C in CFV stands for Carrier, because she is mainly is used to deploy troops however she is heavily armed...hmm?...maybe she's an Assault-ship?

No,it's a Phoenix Class colony ship, outfitted for war.  More like a carrier than a cruiser.

I asked The Lord, "Why hath thou forsaken me?" And He spoke unto me saying, "j00 R n0.0b 4 3VR", And I was like "stfu -_-;;"
