I don't think anyone has said that CoD sucks; I certainly haven't. However it's not the best example of an original concept or storyline.

*Claps* Congradulations guys we just went over 6 pages about the fallacies in marketing and popular games without dissension or bickering.

I'm honestly surprised we didn't get a die hard CoD fanboy who would say something such as, "Halo sucks, CoD is amazing" and then leave us with that.

All in all this stayed at a relatively flameless state, I didn't know that was possible these days.

    Or vise versa.

The truth is, I used to be a Halo fanboy. It took me about 5 months from its release to buy CoD4. I played Halo 3 24/7 and was the best player I knew. I would tell people that CoD4 sucked, and that custom classes was such a stupid idea, etc, etc...and yet I had never even played it. So, I was eventually persuaded to buy it. I still didn't like the multiplayer, but I did like the campaign. Somehow, eventually, I just sorta realized that I loved CoD4 and played it whenever possible between school and work.

When I tried playing Halo again I couldn't understand how I ever managed to become decent, let alone good at it.

All-in-all, Halo 3 was/is a great game, but my preferences have changed and I prefer CoD. But whenever some buddies come over we play Halo 3, which is great because it actually lets you have guests online.

I was talking about CoD as our main focus was on CoD's originality.

Of course CoD is a great game, I loved to play Modern Warfare and when it came ut I had trouble deciding to play between either game. I loved Halo's multiplayer and loved CoD's too. The only thing that drove me towards Halo was its original story which I was entangled with since Halo: CE. CoD never had the same effect on me, it always failed to provide that "epic" feel when you play it.

I found it's story dull in comparison to Halo, first because of its comparison to real life events which did little to impress me. And secondly because it didn't really feel like each mission had a purpose or some deep connection to the overall status of the world. In Halo you fight armadas of Covenant and Flood to try and save the Universe on two fronts, each mission has you stopping them at some point and each builds to a conclusion. Modern Warfare just felt like you were running through killing people just for the sake of killing people. I guess the closest you got to saving the world was when you de-activated the nuclear missiles.

But Halo has always been my preference, and it seems it always will be. Plus I love Halo's MLG over CoD's.

One question however, of the people I have talked to it always seem that CoD fanboys are always hateful of Halo, and for some reason they just despise it without great evidence. And most Halo fans I've talked to actually like or even love CoD. It seems tolerance does not work in both directions, anyone else have experiences like this?

    Probably because of...

Halo players that like CoD probably started with Halo and then played CoD. Whereas the CoD fanboys started with CoD, tried Halo and didn't like it because...

    • The Lack of ADS (Aim Down Sights)
    • No Weapons Classes - Pick ups only
    • Too Much health in Halo (most of us hate Juggernaught as it is already)

Going from CoD to Halo can seem like a step backwords because of it. They think 'Why can't I aim down my sights, why's it so hard to kill people, why can't I have my sniper rifle? It feels primitive.

The fact that Halo is a game of headshots can be very annoying too, going from CoD to Halo is made even harder by the fact that body shots don't kill...at least not in a timely fashion.

If you started with Halo, then you're used to it, and going to CoD just feels like a different shooter that's fun as well, but for the most part they'll still prefer their Halo.

Well, its quite sad, but 343 industries will be in control, and they seem pretty cool, so i have no doubt that halo games will still be good after bungie stop making them

    No, it's not hooray.

I'm tired of Bungie. Unless they do something really innovative to Halo Reach then I feel it's just gonna be a regurgitated Halo game. The Equipment element was good in Halo 3, but Reach needs to take a new approach.

I don't know what that approach is, I just know it needs to be new.

    Re: The End of Halo?

I think Reach will be really good.  It is close to the start of the war and the humans were caught completely off guard (UNSC thought Reach was a super-fortress remember?).  I think it will be alot like Halo:CE where it mostly the humans trying to figure out WTF to do and working with severly low supplies.

I am pretty excited about it... but I am also in the minority as I liked ODST and Halo Wars and it seems most people didn't like them.

    Re: The End of Halo?

The hooray was more because I feel I can trust Bungie to make a decent quality game, not because I want more of the same.

That said, I'm not sick of Bungie. I didn't like Halo3 a whole lot, but that's one game, and the third in a series, so I think I'll let them get away with it.

But yeah, if they don't change the formula a lot for Reach I'll be pretty disappointed in them. But I'm expecting it to be completely different.

If you play COD for a while team swat on halo becomes unbelievably easy since your used to the quick turn aim and shoot,

But most COD fans cant handle that halo gave COD some of its ideas, they copied halo 2s health system and halo CE combat system i think.

MW2 has taken the sticky grenade idea.

I cant think of many things halo has copied COD for although i heard theres perks in reach so that counts as copying.

    Halo2 had a health system?

They took sticky grenades? Why have I not seen more complaints about that?

If they put perks in Reach, I will be very angry. Perks are just about the only thing about cod I actually hate.

Wait, perks are the extra stuff for kill streaks like the helis right?
