This is a follow up thread to a topic that i saw in my last post, and i really want to keep my thread from being hijacked by the senior members, so post on this thread instead.

 

NOW, we all know that vultures and scarabs cannot kill anything by themselves, but a scarab with a balanced army or engineers can do some serious damage (unless facing arbiter). vultures, however, are not used by anyone as they take 900 resources and a lot of build time that could be used getting hawks, which are much more manuverable (and cheaper, and with faster build times). so trying to put one or two in a balanced army doesnt work at all. the only time they are ever effective is if the other team sees triple forge, doesnt scout, and goes all cobras, in which case you are fine. a scarab can be produced at the main base, and they travel faster, although they are prone to being caught on stray marines. vultures cannot dodge a cryo, and since it kills half of them, you cant use them against anders, so that is one leader out. they also are downright terrible against an arbiter, seeing as they have no move speed. PoR is too fast with his flight upgrade, and can kill them one at a time. the only truly vulnerable covenant chieftan is BC, cause he has to stand still to kill air, and mega barrage rapes stationary targets. against cutter, alll he would have to do is rpg the crapp out of them and kill 3 in one shot, then back the ODSTs up with 3 wolverines (which he should have anyway). grizzlies rape vultures cause vultures cannot kill grizzlies fast enough. this makes vultures only effective against BC, and only until he makes vamps, which he surely will once he sees 6 vultures. 

this question is directed at Robot: IN THE NEXT PATCH, WILL VULTURES GET A DAMAGE BUFF, OR FOR THAT MATTER, ANY BUFF AT ALL?!?!!?!?!!!?!???!?!??!

The uber unit which needs a buff is the covenets. The scarab is suckish, while 2 (less supplies, less Pop count) can take it out in seconds. The scarab needs a serious buff.

like i said in my original paragraph, scarabs suck by themselves, but giving them a support army of, say, grunts and jackals is not very hard to do, whereas you can do no such thing with vultures, its either all or none

Vultures serve as floating artillary. If both teams have a stand off on fort deen, vultures are the units you want, due to their range. Use them to proke the enemy to attack.

 

I dont even use vultures until I have three bases.

Vultures are not ever killed by a cryo, even by a Super-Cryo. The bomb knocks out their thrusters, and forces them to hover at ground level for ~10 seconds. It will not in any way damage them, only slow them down.

Three words: Mass Mega Barrage. Three barraging Vultures will kill a PoR, and there's not much HE can do about it.

Lol. Not even close. 6 Vultures vs 13 Grizzleys is a fail for the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies will get crushed by the Mega Barrage, and they cannot return fire with their true power: Canister.

My Cryo kills vultures all the time.  Don't see how its impossible

What are you talking about?

If you mean two vultures can mega barrage a scarab and kill it, it'll take down about four fifths of its health, but air is meant to kill vehicles.
