you would start with an older model of ship than stuff seen later on in the Halo Universe. For example, first you get a Halcyon Class Cruiser (Pillar of Autumn) and then you could get a Marathon Class later on. As the game progresses you could also upgrade your ship. For example, 3 shot mac gun, or more powerful missles. My personal favorite idea is the ODST and/or Spartan boarding craft. Your ship now has a pelican with extra armor that can attempt to take an enemy ship. Depending on the ships size and damage taken, they would have a certain chance of success. For example, with a Covenant Cruiser like Truth and reconciliation, if the ship is at perfect condition then they would have a low, maybe 25% chance of success. but if it has taken a lot of damage, then they may have up to a 75% chance. What happens if they succeed is up to the player. they could keep it, or destroy it. Why destroy it? because since it is a covenant ship not too many spartans or ODSTs know how to pilot one. so instead, they just remove the ship from the battle field, because the covenant would have their own way of boarding ships.

odsts and spartans  boarding crafts and capturing them or destroying is cool, but 1) do they(odsts and spartans) like escape or what, cuz it be a basic suicide mission and the unsc needed all they can get. 2) would the covies have this kind of power?(more common then unsc boarding crafts), and if they did, they would have to destroy the ship b/c they despised human weapons

I would like it if Boarding missions become like a 1st person game and you have AI team mates. Goal: To kill the enemy captain then return to your ship

another idea: how about also instead of killing the captain, capture or destroy the ship, they also have another choice to disable/destroy certain hard-points (like bridge, shield generator, mac cannon/energy projector(glassing) or other weapons, engines, hangers(for fighters or course), and etc., etc. and with the "percent" of disabling/destroying is higher and if disable or destroy, they could repair over time. this could change the tide of war instead of having the possibility like this: all boarding crafts achieve to capture or destroy all the opposing sides ships= no ships and the opposite team jet off to your base w/out enough ships for defense.

so yea i was thinking making the covenant assault cruiser like and uber unit such the scarab cuz that sucker is HUGE!!!

I LIKE IT. It would be smarter to disable the guns than attack the bridge. YAY for thinking outside of the box

the boarders would survive the mission, even if they fail, they would just have , say, double the recharge time before you can use them again

as for the covenant version, yes they would have their own version, Spec ops elites or something

    that would be a feature

plus, when you build your space station in a new system, you can build more than one in a small area

the station would first just look like the ring part of a Mac station

then it could be upgraded one of 3 ways

    1. Defense Station-Mac station-self explanatory

    2. Shipyard- Adds facilities to construct ships, also comes with auto cannons for self defense

    3. Amory- like the Field Armory in halowars- lets you purchase fleet wide upgrades.

covenant would have something just about the same

This isnt god dam age of empires, now stfu.

    Thhey man

    I want to like

     be the very... um

Halowars wasn't the best yeah know?

    like... AoE2 was better

cause it had the really nice map editor

    I think

they should make it more customizable and focused more on user content

    and maybe

    A Space Navy.

Well if we were going by what usually happens

    Byzantines would have always won

    In Age of Empires

And Humanity would always win in Halo

Because Spartans can kill everything by themselves

    But because of balencing

    that doesn't happen

So why can't they balance Space? (other than space isn't an object to balance)

Re: Space in HW2 or DLC

I've been thinking about the Space combat/ground engagement idea and I have one qualm about it...

are we suggesting way to much? I mean Halo Wars 1 is just ground battles and it already pushed Xbox to the limit. (can we really pull all of this off?)

just bringing that issue up for thought. on a brighter note..here we go

using the concept of Spartan teams and Pickable leaders. Having pickable leaders AND spartan teams would be cool. Spartan teams could add a unique combative ability to the war all the way from enhanced mobility, like a jet pack MIJNOR armour, (mispelling I Know) all the way to durability (like the EoD armour from Halo 3) and lemme flesh out different class ships into focus.

Colonization Ships - the base builders in HW2, you MUST bring a colonization ship to any uninhabited planet in order to claim it (in the case of Covie controlled planets, a colonization ship is not needed once you conquer it.) they also are the ships that establish space stations above planets for defense, or various other purposes.

Frigate Class - More on the offensive side, these classes have high mobility and great firepower, perfect for a mid-game push into enemy territory (Space Combat only) These classes are going to be your main fighting force in your space engagements.

Halycon Class - The biggest, and baddest ships in the bunch, These slow moving behemoths are to be used in heavy defense or an all-out onslaught assualt on the fortress (like Reach) or the Home World (Like Earth). a unique benefit to the Halycon classes is that they allow the use of "Galatic powers" to be used in ground engagements (An Archer Missle strike or ODST drop for example)

Hero Class - a Uber combination of all three classes, the Hero units (like the PoA under Captain Keyes or Truth and Reconciliation under Thel) are your starting units at the start of the match, allowing you to have the ability to capture planets right from the start. Keep them alive at all costs, if you are killed in one of your engagements you must bring your KO'd Fleet to your Fortress World for repairs (your hero class will be decommisioned for a little bit while under repairs)

Fortress/Home Worlds - Your fortress world is your base of operations basically, it acts like a shipyard, supply planet, defense, and offensive power. conquering a Fortress world is like the equivalent of killing a Covies leader AND temple right after killing they're leader....so yeah keep it under your control. your Home-World is like your King piece in chess, if this planet falls, it's all over for you, theres no coming back understand? lol

    there, hopefully that clarifies things
