    Spartan032:

Once again if you haven't read all three books more then once then this is not for you.
Ok i have a few questions about the books that has really made me wonder?
    1) What happend the the 3 spartans that make it back to earth with MC.
    2) Where do you believe Dr.Hasley took the one spartan Female.
3)What is the Significance of earth and other plants to the Covenant.
There are other questions but please just hepl me figure this out.
I'm sorry if these questions have been asked before. So please don't be forum Nazi's about it if they've already been asked.

     1) not sure

    2) some think they went to the planet onyx for recruitment and training of the spartan III's

    3) really there not, i think they've just been looking for the "Ark"

Re: For people who have read all three books

Ok, I've read through everything and want to answer a few old questions before beginning, or at least clarify some things.

First, someone mentioned ilovebees not making it canon wise. However, Bungie employee Frank, while discussing the Graphic Novel, said that ilovebees is held as canon by Bungie.

Second, I think this was mentioned before, but the Spartan 1s did not fight against the Covenant for the UNSC. They were disbanned before the war.

Now, as for the questions asked at the beginning.

    1) I would imagine they were stationed on different defense platforms. If you had all 4 Spartans on Cairo Station and it was soundly held, the Covenant would destroy all the others and still take Earth with ease. Thus, the Spartans were probably spread amongst the stations. However, I do not believe any Spartans were on Malta Station or Athens Station because they were both very near to Cairo Station and it would make more sense to spread the Spartans wider out as even holding 4 Stations is pointless if they all can see the same thing and the rest of the planet is defensless.

    2) I personally tend to agree with the speculation that Dr Halsey took Kelly to the star-coordinate found in Ackerson's files. Some speculate that this is where Mendez is training Spartan-IIIs, and I lean towards this speculation.

    3) I also believe that the Covenant found the Earth through a "trail of breadcrumbs", as it was so aptly put earlier in this thread, in their never ending search for Forerunner artifacts. In fact, concerning the whole war, I think the Covenant view the UNSC as a pest and only truly engage them when looking for an artifact. The Covenant aren't hunting and exterminating the humans, they are killing any non-Covenant beings in their search for the Forerunner. In essence, I don't think the Covenant regaurd it as a war as much as perhaps a search with minor obstacles. The fact that the Covenant are left in civil war and are beginning to lose to the UNSC at the end of Halo 2 means that they may start taking the UNSC threat seriously. However, during the first contact with the Covenant, the Covenant made mention of a holy war against the humans, and they said it in English, which implies they have been watching us. Also, I can't remember where it is mentioned, but in a conversation between some Covenant (I think they were grunts in Conversations of the Universe) it mentions that all races before the humans were given the option of assimilation, whereas the humans were not. These point to another reason for the Covenant destroying the humans, but I still think they don't take us seriously. We are neither enough in numbers to be fodder like the grunts and jackals nor are we strong enough to fight without weapons like the brutes and hunters (with exception to the Spartans) nor are we technilogically advanced enough to be considered an intelligent race like the elites, prophets, and engineers.

    Spartan032:

3)What is the Significance of earth and other plants to the Covenant.

Ive puzzled over this ever scince i finished the first game myself and i have a theory. In Halo: Combat Evolved, when u finally complete the library mission (that was an absolute pain in the f'in ass i swear to God) Chief engages in a conversation with Cortana and 343 guilty spark where they talk about the forunner building the "Installation" to keep and study the flood for a means to destroy them. In the conversation 343 guily spark says this to the Chief, "Last time you asked me: if it were my choice would i do it? Having many years to ponder this query my answer has not changed there is no choice, we must activate the ring." He said this to the Chief as if he had had this same conversation with him many years ago. Also 343 called the Chief a "Reclaimer", which suggests the forunner were very similiar in technology developements and understanding as well as appearence to humans. Ever scince i saw that scene i have often wondered: "Could it be that the Human race is actually whats left of the decendants of the forunner?" Getting back to your original question. The covenant arent just looking for artifacts, Theyre looking for what they believe is immortality. what they call "The Great Journey", however this could mean anything. The Covenant believe the Human race are some sort of Demon meant to lead them astray from "The Great Journey", (or at least thats what the prophets have told them). I think regret may have found proof that the humans are more than what they seem in the whole idea of the great journey and decided to investigate his leads which inevetably lead to Earth., but he didnt know that. This must have angred Truth because the council gave him a formal warning and regret withdrawled. This can only mean that Truth does in fact know that the humans are not the demons the covenant were lead to believe but he wants to fulfil this "Great Journey" whatever the cost as he (as would anyone) is jumping a the oppurtunity to meet his "creators" and seek immortality and understanding beyond comprehension. There f that didnt bore you by the time you read all this your either insane or a true halo fan : ) This just goes to show how much ive thought about this too (too much :D).

Re: Only for people who have read all three books

The three other spartans are probably just fighting in other areas of either earth or even on other planets.

there are 3 major books about halo (the flood, fall of reach, first strike) with a new one Ghost of Onyx comming out on Oct 31 (all good reads). They don't neccesarly tie with Halo Wars, but nothing says that they dont.

Re: For people who have read all three books

Ok, after reading through the postings, I figured I would write up my 'Halo Theory'. As most of you, I believe the Human race to be a lineage of the Forerunners. My reasons for this belief are numerous and have been posted many times already, so I'll skip right to it. I think that the entire Halo universe is in some kind of time loop. As UberSpartan posted, In the conversation 343 guily spark says this to the Chief, "Last time you asked me: if it were my choice would i do it? Having many years to ponder this query my answer has not changed there is no choice, we must activate the ring." He said this to the Chief as if he had had this same conversation with him many years ago. I think that in each time line things may be a bit different, hence the armor question from Guilty Spark. This time loop is not accidental or coincidence, but out of necessity. I think that we will find that the Covenant cannot be defeated, or that it has been undefeatable for whatever reason, in each time line. Because of this either Master Chief himself or with the coperation of a Forerunner 'guide' (a Guilty Spark or something), finds a way to revert time, in the hopes of an different outcome. Of course for all we know the Halo system may have been designed just for this purpose. The Forerunners themselves may have built it as a last ditch attempt to preserve humanity in the universe, before it was erradicated by either the Covenant or the Flood Plague. My question now is, how could something so massive (The Ark at New Membosa), stay hidden for so long without any humans finding it? Could it be that there are Forerunners still around, making sure that either the loop is repeated, or to stop the loop if the desired outcome is achieved? We already have one 'human' who mysteriously got off Halo uninfected and ok (Sgt. Johnson).....
