    Re: Scarab and hunter

If I recall, scarabs were only seen, as you explained, alone, only one.  The exception to this is on the Halo 3 level "The Covenant," but this was the highest ranking situation possible, activating the rings to begin the "great journey."  Now if I remember correctly, during the first battle of earth many scarabs were deployed over a large area (Mombasa) many falling victum to the strange human streets (from "turf" describtion.)  It is a possibility that we will be able to mass produce these monstrous machines.

    now for my opinion,

with no knowledge of how powerfull scarabs will be, it is hard to determine what role they should play in Halowars.  However, scarabs should NOT have a ridiculous cost.  The cost is for the actual armor, probably equal to 5-10 wraiths, the crew is most likely leckgolo, which is free.  In multiplayer, the size of the map should determine the amount of scarabs allowed at one time, in campaign the priority of the mission.

the "beam" version of the hunters fuel rod seems to better fit the game, as grunt fuel rod squads would be cheaper and just as powerfull as hunters.

that pretty much sums it up.

EDIT: in responce to Ascendant Justices last responce: ever wonder what that door was in the demo?  Although its probably changed, it does seem rather... convinient.

    Re: Scarab and hunter

The Hunters themselves have control over their own fire. They can feel like firing beams of single shots.

I feel the single shots should be the default attack, and you can switch(upgrade, special power) to beams if you like.

    Re: Scarab and hunter

Welcome to the forums Blcksniper. AS I said before, I think the only limit to scarabs should be your skill level. If your good enough to crush your opponent early on, you shouldn't have a problem. However, if you send in one marine at a time until you lose your entire army, your opponent gets a chance to build a larger one. The idea of HW is to capture the true battlefront, not to see MC run through thousands of people. if we're going to truly see this war, we need more than one or two scarabs.

    Re: Scarab and hunter

Then we would need something to COUNTER those scarabs.  Like a higher unit cap :)

    stoned emo:

With all good RTS games you get a high pop of units you can have, the scarab wont take that much up, so i was wondering, can you only ahve 1 scarab on the battlefield at one time, then build annother if its destroyed, or can they be mass produced?

Also, will Hunters have the fuel rod cannon type weapons, or the halo 2/3 Beam.

These are still to be confirmed, but whats ur opinion

dude to be honest i thnk there should be more then one scarab at a time but it should take a long time to produce them...like long.....

and for the hunters prob fuel rod type kinda like a covies version of a spartan

    Re: Scarab and hunter

I think that you should be able to upgrade hunters gradually from ce to halo 2 and 3 (better armour beam guns etc:)

I believe that in Ghosts of Onxy it said that Hunters could switch between fuel rod and beam. Perhaps that will end this debate.

    lol!

BTW- Whoever brought up hunters with two attacks, beam and fuel rod, that's what we should be doing. It fits canon best, and it appeases both sides.

hmmm, it could be an underground tunnel or something.  Since the covenant are mostly looking for forerunner artifacts they could have dug some underground channels.  Thats the only thing I can think of.

Maybe the beam could be used against infantry, and the fuel rod used against vehicles.

Never draw fire; it irritates everyone around you.

For every action, there is an equal and opposite criticism.

Remember assault in the control room on halo CE. Those doors were everywhere! They are forerunner creations and were used by the forerunner, and then discovered by the covenant.

Yup, this is correct! It's mentioned in Contact Harvest; it explains that the Hunter weapon uses an incendiary gel which can be fired in capsules that detonate on impact (Halo: CE), or fired a bit like a hose (Halo 2 + 3). I'd have thought you could either switch the type manually (one being good at vehcles, the other at infantry) or it just did it all automatically.

I'm not sure about limiting Scarab production. Fine, it is super powerful, but that tends to also mean super expensive. If the enemy team has the time to build up an army of them, it is entirely the fault of the non-Scarab builder.

There might also be some weird economy system to deal with it, nno idea how it would work though.

EDIT: I also agree with what bob the marine was saying on Scarabs.. Different to what I originally posted, but it makes more sense.
