I will except logic, but if it crushes my idea, then of course I won't.

that is a problem, you have chosen to stubbornly hold onto a deeply flawed idea rather than accepting that it won't work

BB I'm one step ahead of ya. I have already suggested a one stroy wall. I don't know if you saw it; it's the last post on page 5.

I just thought about my original post on this thread. I said that the three story wall was rather illogical, and I don't know why I din't listen to my past self. So how 'bout this. Same idea as before, but its only one story. Seems a lot more logical, and fun.

Partial proof that I have changed Rasq

The very point I was trying to bring up. Units garrisoned on walls with bunkers and turrets are a given. But since walls only serve to keep out infantry and light vehicles, there's no reason for it to be higher than one story.

    And thanks for listening.

Now we're getting somewhere! Of course, the one story wall would have a rampart, right?

the one thing that stands out in my mind from your latest reply was the "but it's fun this way" part. I find that the best part of many RTSs are those that don't follow any specific logic

Maybe that logic may not be apparent to you, but chances are it's logical. Game designers don't make irrelevant decisions.

Maybe, but shooting out of a bunker is safer than standing out on the ramparts.

    Where'd you come from!

That reply was just annoying to read because of how it just attacked me as opposed to help the idea, or effect the idea in any way. I suggest that you make your posts relevant from now on.

rasq- How 'bout walls with ramparts, and tops, to make them like elevated wall/bunkers? Just an idea.

He still likes to put people down lol.

Your idea could work if done properly.

    Re: My ideas

Alright, well then. How would you see in to the bunker?

it could have a glass roof, but that would be ridiculous. I would hate to see only an outline of my soldiers the entire time they are in these elevated bunkers.

    What was NT's old name?

    Re: My ideas

well you wont need thick walls at all. Plasma is splash damage, not as much penitration (spelling).

Only Massive amounts of plasma (scarab, Wraith) would penetrate due to the sheer ammounts.

otherwise, since i see scarabs as being more of a defensive unit, not the one to go charging around inside someone else base. you would need relitively thinner walls.

The bunker part is good. Troops can move around on the ramparts, but they get a much better defense bonus from the bunkers.

As for the bunkers, it could be you can only station one squad in there at a time. So, a max of five guys. But if you store a damaged, three man squad in there, and then try and send in a five-man squad, they swap places.

To show that a bunker is occupied, a simple light inside could turn on, and the doors would close.

As for NT, he was called Ninja Theory, and then NinjaTheory after he was banned the first time. After that, he came back as Norman Tots, Naughty Taco, and then Night Tamale. But most of us still call him Ninja Theory, or more commonly NT.

I believe those are called guard towers. Personally I would like to see those as a defensive measure in Halo Wars. I suppose one should be able to  build guard towers on top walls. That way one could have the benefit of low walls, and the advantages of attacking from above the wall. How's that as a logical compromise?

    Re: My ideas

Let me just make sure that we're on the same page. I want for the helms deep walls to be put into HW, with a bunker stretching over the top of the entire wall. The bunker/wall would act like normal land. You could walk around inside of it, go to the edge and shoot out of it. Is that what we're talking about, then that would be a logical compromise. if not, we'll keep working things out.

    Re: My ideas

    Um... no.

Buildable walls are one story high, with Bunkers that can be placed on the corners. Units can walk around on the ramparts, but they get much better cover from the bunkers.

Helms Deep Walls are in a special gametype, and cannot be built.
