toasterking93:The "ring of death" isn't likely to be fixed, howevr microsoft just spen =t a HUGE amount of money on extending the warranty to cover the ring of death, so that if it happens to you, you'll get a new one. eiher way, the ring of death really isn't that common anymore. it was the launch systems that were the most defective. i've actualy gotten the red ring of death, but i turned it off and on and it subsided. halo 3 comes out in september, and if they ever have a price drop it'll be long after halo 3. they're gonna milk as much money out of it as they can.
They just had a price drop this week of $50 bucks.
M$ actually confirmed that almost ALL Xbox 360's produced have the potential to show the '3RLOD' - That is why they are extending the warranties. I believe they add a heatsink to the GPU to fix the problem.
I don't know if you bothered to click the links I provided in the previous post, but the newer Xbox's will come with HDMI standard and a 65 nm processor. Smaller processor = cheaper cost to build, which may mean a cheaper price for consumers.
I'm not sure what you consider a long time. But they will release the newer 360s before the end of the year.
EDIT: I'm talking on another forum, and some ppl are saying that 360s with an HDMI are already on the market. I'm currently trying to confirm if they are referring to the Elite or if they are talking about the standard/core versions.
