    Re: Too Japanese Anime "ish"

I agree...the music didn't sound oriental, it did sound sort of middle-eastern.

Anyway, yes, some parts of Halo were inspired by anime, but overall Halo or Halo Wars didn't feel like anime to me at all, it felt like Halo =D

And the marine doesn't look like a samurai at all, they are just wearing winter gear. Try blazing around in an open Warthog at high speed without goggles or a mask on a winter's night and see how you feel Stick out tongue

Also, the elites are a completely different species to humans, so you can't compare their size to anything that is human... but if you think that they're too big, that's your opinion, they're aliens for crying out loud! Big Smile

    Every game has its haters

Well, I dont watch anime or anything, so I dont know anime style. However, the trailer seemed really good to me, and I didnt notice any major style differences between this and other halo games. So if it is anime style, who cares? It was still pretty damn good.

    Re: Too Japanese Anime "ish"

It’s just because it’s CG, moron.

The Elites look fine. They just look a bit more muscular than before; they are probably just Special Forces or something.

Also the Marine in the Warthog isn't shocked. He is confused because the recon guy just yelled over the radio that he was under attack. This Game is supposedly about the UNSC's first contact with the Covenant. So he would naturally be surprised. Hence the next thing he says is “What the…?”

The UNSC recruit from all nations of Earth and all the other colonies under their control. If a marine looks Japanese then he probably is. And when was the last time you were out in the snow? Don’t you know that you are meant to cover your face, hands, etc. to prevent frostbite?

And for someone who claims to hate anime you sure know a lot about it. I think you love it really and you are just ashamed for some mad reason.

Anime means Japanese animation. There is no reason to say “Japanime”.

    Re: Too Japanese Anime "ish"

Let me get this straight, you would hate for them to have an influence from one of the most respected artforms in the world (anime is extremely popular now), not to mention that more then half of the world's videogames (and most of the good ones) have come from Japan.

Hate it if you will but don't be a hypocrite, if you're going to complain about any animeish influence then you should complain about the star wars influence too.  Yes the grunts?... they're hairless Ewoks.

    "but I like star wars"

That's great, but that's your opinion.  If you have a problem with their decisions then don't buy the game, go make your own company and avoid anything that's "popular" or "current" and see how much money you make.

    Re: Too Japanese Anime "ish"

Are we still discussing this ? It doesn't have any ! It is a fricking Cinematic by western guys... Blur as far as i know.. and they don't do stuff like that. So take it easy and discuss something else, and if it had any anime in it.. i would be one of the first to complain.. trust me.

    ploppytheman:

Did anyone get a Japanese anime sort of feel how it was directed, and the music. The characters look japanese too. Especially the marines. Keep Halo as Halo not an anime, I hate that stuff. And how they do that shocked "HUH" thing, man thats annoying. Its like watching Pokemon or something. What are they trying to get a market in Japan or soemthing?

Looks cool cept the Japanime touch on it. The elites look too big in the upper upper body, there waists are way too small, and there legs are really big which doesn't fit the model from Halo 1 or 2. Pause the video on 57 seconds and you will see it is obviously messed up.

PLEASE DONT MAKE THIS JAPANIME STYLE!!! It makes it so lame. I noticed in the scenes before "The Arbiter" in Halo 2 they had given it a very anime like sounds and feel. It annoyed me.

If anything Bungie needs to make things like that outtake for Halo 2 where the Invisible Elite stuck the marine on his helmet. Its on the Multiplayer Map Pack.

This was way too realistic and violent to be anime-ish. i don't know where you got that frickin idea from. Your the kind of person that looks at a 3D representation of a human being and goes "ZOMG! it looks like this guy I saw in my anime collection! The Japanese are taking over!"

    Re: Too Japanese Anime "ish"

Maybe you are like Anime-psychotic cause I don't think it had a japanese anime thing at all...The music was dramatic, yes, japanese? no. And how do the marines look japanese? First of all, you only see their eyes...secondly, there eyes aren't even slanted! Not to be stereotypical but how are they asian if the only part you see is not asian? And I don't know if you heard their voices or not, but they weren't Asian at all. Oh and by the way, if one of them was Asian, you do realize its not America Vs. Covenant,, its Earth vs. Covenant (if you dont comprehend, that means asian countries too! *Gasp*     I admit the "Huh?" was a little fake/corny sounding, but I understand that they had to put iit in there cause you can't see his jaw dropping through the mask like they would've showed if they could. And as for the elites? I'm happy they look and sound more animalistic, thats how they were originally before Halo2 ruined them. It looks awesome, except the consistency in the timeline.

    ploppytheman:

Its still Japanese man. The marines looks sorta like samuria's, and the music too.

Dude the marine in the hog clearly goes Huh hella anime like right when the guy gets shot. If you ask the makers I bet they'd say it is influenced by Japanese anime style, not the graphics. But they did do the quick transfer over the snow anime like. Its not completely japanime style but it is influenced. Like in the cutscene before the level the arbiter there are notes of it.

The music sounds like some Chinese or Japanese traditional stuff.

its not a "huh" its a gasp, and wtf do you mean by chinese or Japanese traditional music, you probably dont even know what traditional Asian Music is (and no you cant find it on the internet)

heres an encyclopedia entry on anime

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anime

the waddling scen does look like anime though, and so does the face behind the mask.

    Re: Too Japanese Anime "ish"

to be honest it doesn't look "anime ish"(if thats even a word) i think the trailors awsome and the gameplay isnt going to look like the cinema.so theres rely nothing to complain about especialy something this stupid.

It seems way to Japanime to me. And I dont even watch TV but I've seen enough of it to know it when I see it. If you can't see it you are blind.

I beg to differ. This had no aspects of Japanese. It was straight out action. Ignoring the graphical style, Anime has a certain overdone, irritating feel to it. This trailer was dramatic, but it didn't use the same techniques to give it that look and feel.

And seriously, it's just a teaser trailer.

    Re: Too Japanese Anime "ish"

Would you like to consider changing what you said and say it fells a little "Japanese" like Kill Bill or something, cause there is a big difference between japanese...and cartoons. Anime is 2-D and the trailer was 3-D so it cannot be anime, but saying Japanese makes a significant difference being that Anime is a CARTOON

    Re: Too Japanese Anime "ish"

ok, pardon me, but WHERE is the anime influence?
    I see NONE.

EDIT: ok just ignore that rant... i love anime and the trailer seemd very halo to me, no anime at all. i'll be quiet now

    Re: Too Japanese Anime "ish"

I do believe that enough people have shot down the statement in the subject. If anyone is bothering to read all the posts then know that no more really needs to be said (unless it's especially funny). Wow having polls should definitely be included in the forum update.
