but wasnt the Spartan-2s first MJOLNIR the mark-4 cuz right before they went to Reach they changed armor to the mark-5 which was the ones with shields and thicker armor. And before Reach their armor didnt have shields.

but during the mark-4 they didnt have BRs so how could they use them?

whydo u say their were no BR's? they may jsut not have gained popularity, there is nothing saying that the battle rifles came into development/production at any certain time

That is true but they only disavantage the BR had was the small ammo capasity well the AR was only useful for close range combat cuz it was so damn inaccerat. Plus the BR has stronger bullets than the AR so that right there makes up for less ammo.

plus different purposes suggest that they both existed at the same time

next thing i know, ur gonna be saying that the MA5B didn't exist during halo 2, in halo 3 they have the BR and MA5C, but the MA5B still exists, they jsut have no need for it in the game

The BR-55 was sent to ONI CASTLE base a week before the battle of Reach.

I think that everybody is forgetting that Halo Combat Evolved, Halo 2 and 3 occur in the same year:2552

so that destroys our established timeline of the spartans

since they would have upped their armor before they got the BRs.....

or maybe someone at ES isn't doing their research :p

just because the Pillar of autumn didn't carry battle rifles doesn't mean that none of the UNSC navy had them... remember the Pillar's assignment was to board an enemy ship and use it to capture a prophet...  mabey an assault rifle made more sense for the up close environment like the inside of a covenant ship than a battle rifle did... also its larger ammo cap may have been preferred over the BR's 32 shots...

 

its the same deal with the pistol... why did they have HE pistols with scopes while the rest of the navy seems to be using standard pistol's... the reason that many of the stuff that was on the autumn is different from other UNSC ships is because of the nature of its mission.

tho the pistol didn't have a physical scope, and the reason the rest of the people had reg magnums, is because bungiethot it was overpowered lol

 

and UNSC says that the BRs were out before Reach, just barely

they had to have been out before reach if they were on reach to be distributed to soldiers...  all of the action on reach in the books is at the same time as the game HALO CE..

 

as for the pistol i was sighting a story reference to why there might have been a scope on the Pillar of Autumn and not for other UNSC forces... not a balance issue which is why it is not in halo 2...
