I thought that was in CE? Wasn't it?

Yes... but by the time of Halo 2 and 3 they could have taken out the function because it wasn't cannon when the books were published after CE.

Do you hear about spartans flipping tanks in the books... no because it's un-logical lol. But they had to ignore logic and realise that fun was a factor to.

Or... maybe because they never get the chance?

Seriously, flipping a tank over is impossible for a Marine, but the Spartans probably have enough strength with their armor to push a Scorpion over, provided they have the proper leverage.

Um, the manual says the Scorpion weighs about 66 tons. That's a bit much for even several Spartans even with their glorified armor. The whole tank flipping idea in the games came from necessity not reality. It's no fun having your super cool beast of a vehicle becoming unusable due to being flipped over.

I don't want to butt in on the tank argument, I go both ways.  Kinda like the photon physics situation where light can be described as a wave, or a particle.

Can:Leverage.  With leverage, a spartan can only use half the strengh needed and the pivot(turret) would also help.

Cant:  Lets see.  A .5 ton spartan that with bio enhancments and armor could probably lift around 10 tons?  Maybe more or less?  Not nearly near a 66 ton scorpian.

They put that in as an Easter egg.  No spartan can really flip and elephant without some other equiptment.  They put that in so that if u did flip an elephant, it wouldn't end the game.

Thats because the elephant is your base. Heck even bungie knows you cant really lift that. Doesnt it say "Hey howd you do that" if you do flip over an elephant?

    Re: Logic vs. Fun

Well then we now know that Bungie is messing with the Spartans strength because of the game, that could easily be the idea with the scorpion. I already knew why I could lift an elephant, I just wanted a way to connect he two to somewhat prove that the non tank flippers were right.

That may have been the most stupid and random comment I've ever heard. Yes, some of that is coming out because I want revenge, and yeah, it kinda makes sense cause we're moving stuff. Also, you used Archimedes quote because he could move objects with levers and he said that during a debate where the King of Sicily said he couldn't lift a boat out of the harbor. But still, I'm looking for something useful, and for someone who's flamed me several times for pointless things, that was a pretty stupid move.

point being that the whole tank debate is almost irrelevant

we know some unrealism and non-canon things are necessary but nothing like what you always seem to be suggesting

    Re: Logic vs. Fun

The tank debate is rather irrelevant, but you joined this debate with no facts, or even an opinion. You just come in saying that it's pointless. Now, what sounds more foolish, me suggesting this for a game that are rather outrageous, or you randomly popping into a debate saying that this is pointless?

Well that's the point of the discussion, if the logic we went by was yours, then most of the discussion on this site would also be irrelevant.

But any who, like stated, the Chief can't possibly lift a tank. It's just impossible. Even within the realms of science fiction. The only time I see that happening is if he's on a small asteroid with minimal gravity.
