Sayhitobooyah:@ xlax no i don't agree. if i saw 2+2=4 and you say no , you can post all you won't it won't make you right but i'd be your opinion which is what people fail to realize. all of this "this player is better then that 1" is all from opinions and experience whic his all someone can go off of. a player doesn't have to come on here cocky, showing links and talking trash. take a look at a player like mike beaston, i played him b4 he was on the forum and was always a nice guy, he came on here and just voiced his opinion on topics and fit in. he was never a *** to anyone off the bat and never came on to just trash talk. hes gotten alot better and is a good example of how more people should be when they first come on
When, I 1st joined this site, one of the 1st things i posted on was some random thread about government/politics just to "voice my opinion" as you would say. 2 posts in, Instinct is on my ass calling me an idiot and talking about how bad I am and how good he is at the game, when my post was as I said, about politics... I will ask you again now, how can you expect someone new to come on this forum, get trash talked immediately and not defend themselves (which can sometimes seem cocky)? Your description of mikebeaston is how I tried to be when I 1st came on, but after my 10th post I could already see that anything I said would instantly be shot down and that I would need to defend myself. Posting links as proof is one of the only ways to show people who you beat/show skill so how can you say doing that is being cocky?
maybe if the people on here were more open minded and didn't automatically form biased opinions after playing someone 1 time or seeing a link of someone's bad game, then people would not have to resort to these methods of defending themselves.
think about it like this... I beat some good people the other day, you were one of them. Then I post on here and immediately get shot down. My 1 win vs. anyone good counts for nothing.
now here is the double standard... person X is decent and trying to get recognition and beats some top players but is still not given any credit.
person X loses to person Y, someone who is terrible. That one loss apparently can justify any claims that person X is bad, however all of the wins vs. top players count for nothing? this is the double standard that causes people to act/sound cocky on here. maybe if people like Instinct and others were not such assholes to newer/worse players every time they post and didnt carry this double standard, then the cockiness would stop.
