    Samir:
Its not that planet. If it was human infested and the Covenant saw it they would glass it. Reach is the only exception so it is not a human world.
They only glass a planet once the ground war is lost. What we were watching in the trailer was the ground war and obviously it had just begun.

Hey, has anyone considered that it might not be a planet that we know of. It is possible that its not harvest, cause like the producers and developers of the game could have just created a world just for the game. It doesnt have to entirely revolve around the whole halo universe.

Without any hard evidence yet, its hard to say what planet it is and if its even real.                                                                                               Although, the whole idea about being harvest and the first contact seems pretty conivincing.

Re: I think I'm on to something (Fall of Reach)

Everybody's gotta remember: According to the Book Fall of Reach, the humans LOST basically every planet. It is possible that things like Hunters and whatnot DID exist, and they just killed everybody that saw them.

The basic idea of this game is obviously (Or at least, HOPEFULLY) to lead up to The Fall of Reach, and show all the pre-halo stuff that went on.

yeah the game doesnt need to directly involve the specifics of halo.

eg the idea that the spartans didnt have mjilnor armour at the time of harvest. The developers could easily just add that in if they feel it will add to the gameplay. Considering that bungie isnt developing this game, i dont think the game is gonna be centered around the timeline and where it takes place.

The Halo novels mention it but not in great detail.

Re: I think I'm on to something (Fall of Reach)

SPARTAN II's didn't ever fight on Harvest, and most of the UNSC didn't either. Harvest fell before we realised we were attacked, then one ship got away and told us about the Covies. However we didn't conscrpt SPARTAN II's until years after we knew about the covenant. We did however, use SPARTAN I's to fight space pirates and rebel humans. o the planet they were fighting on wasn't harvest but could very well be an enconter with the covenant soon afterwards. The one problem with the movie, however, is that MJOLNR armor wasn't even succsefuly worn until the SPARTAN II's were well developed. So we can't really take the video as fact.

any halo game book or movie is developed in reference to the halo bible. the game will (without a doubt) be centered around the timeline.

Re: I think I'm on to something (Fall of Reach)

    So the trailer facts are:

    5 Spartans -Standard Fire Team
    Uknown world - Not Harvest
    Uknown Armor (possibly Mark 4)
Post Harvest - Later than 2525

It cold be that this is the first battle the Spartans were used in. Following the trailer, the Elite's sneak into what looks like a "Forerunner" installation. Perhaps something the humans discovered on an outer colony world. These Marines look unarmed and caught of guard... perhaps scouts. Their Platoon is inbound to their position when all hell breaks loose.

And I have to add that the Forerunner stuff will be a focal point to this game. AFter all, it is about Halo.

    Trailer voicover:

-Spirt of fire this is Blue 6, we're joining Blue 5 and on route to the recon patrols last position. 6 out.
-Blue 6, Blue 6, we're under attack! *Plasma shot*
    -What the?

Thought this might help some of the debates.

It's a reasonable idea and makes alot of sense.

Re: I think I'm on to something (Fall of Reach)

FOR CRYING OUT LOUD THERES NO "N" IN TURRET!!!

what we know so far: those spartans are 99.999% the first ones, and the battle takes place before H1, i doubt its merely a pole, would make more sense for an intergalactic fighting force not to equip snow camo gear for simply a pole... may be wrong here.

no idea where this happens, but it may not be even mentioned in the books, they arent fodder.

and in all honesty, does it really matter???

No battles were fought on Harvest... it was glassed.  You're right.  But we did have SPARTAN-IIs at that point.  The SPARTAN-II project was all but complete by the time the Covenant turned up.  April 2525 was the time Harvest was glassed and the war began, and John-117 was briefed on the situation in September 2525 as a fully operational SPARTAN-II.  The first operations the SPARTAN-IIs went on (not operations vs. the Covenant) were done without armour, but battle gear was given to the SPARTAN-IIs later on, in the form of MJOLNIR Mk IV gear.  Mk V gear was given to them before the Fall of Reach.
