SecretSquirrel:I figured my first post might as well be a topic, so here goes.
Hi, I'm a 2v2 enthusiast and mainly use Forge. I make sure my team consists of one UNSC and one non brute chieftain Covenant.
So many 2v2 games are determined by simply hitting the back button and looking at two things: leader combination and rank. Most lower ranking opponents will always use the same build depending on what leaders were chosen.
Here are a few combinations with general strategies. All of these are easy enough to counter that I didn't want to type the specifics out. (Honestly, most counters are just tanks and banshees anyway.) Feel free to tack on any more you guys have noticed.
Double Covenant (any): Instant win! Prepare for leader rush, scout, and build counters after the rush. Expect a resign after the failed rush.
Brute Chieftain and UNSC (any): Near guaranteed win! If you have any other covenant leader, you are at an advantage in 2v2. Prepare for probable brute rush, scout the UNSC, and build appropriate units.
Double Cutter: Be a good sport and reserve them some tables in Valhalla; their double elephant rush and ODST boom is going to cost them dearly. Again, scout the main base just in case, but if they did this, the match is as good as over.
Forge and Anders: They're going tanks and hornets. If they're extra sneaky, Forge will go hornets and Anders will go tanks, just to keep the element of surprise. Same old fire alarm: scout, build counters, dry out clothes.
Brute Chieftain and Cutter: Watch out. Your forces are going to come down with a bad case of Brutarine. Fortunately, this is an extremely mild disease if you take the right precautions. Simply prepare for a standard brute rush with some added marines or flamethrowers. Remember to take your vitamins! After you've gotten over the Brutarine, push to their base while building Scorpions and counters for any other units. (you did scout them, right?) Cutter is probably teching ODST from the main base, while the Brute Chieftain is likely spamming more brutes.
In short, if you see these leaders do three things. SCOUT them, PREPARE for a rush, and COUNTERATTACK with the most effective forces available.
Simple as that!
BAH HA HA HA HA no. Anders/Forge/Cutter will always go for their own super unit? So Cutter never double bases and dual pumps canister tanks, Anders never goes hogs and well I guess you're right about Forge.
A well executed dual covvy rush is extremely potent and will probably make it a 2v1 on certain maps (beaslys, and Memorial basin come to mind.)
And Cutter, Brute is one of the best 2v2 pairings. The high base damage of brutes means they have to be the focus of attention at the start leaving Cutter alone for the couple of minutes he needs to dual pump tanks. - good cutters never go ODST.
