I played the living hell out of the demo, spent hours playing it, trying to come up with rushes and BOs w/ cutter and regret. Found out about the tourney online, and registered at the Gamestop hosting it. There's like 4 stores in my city. Well my roomate works at one, and gave me the copy I had reserved on Fri the 27th. I practiced deathmatch and went. 12 people showed up and they ended up combining two tournaments bc enough people didn't sign up at one store.
First round, I used Cutter. Sent an elephant to far rebel base, popped out 3 spartans, made an AF and VD and made 1 Vulture and 2 Scorps and sent them to the other Rebel Base. Capped both, made like 2 more vultures and scorpions, sent my hog in from the back and dropped ODSTs in the back. Good Spartan micro plus smart power use made this Arbiter player go down in less then 5 min. The ODST drop in deathmatch is BROKEN if used right.
It seemed like everyone that won used the UNSC, finally the manager chimed in about no one winning using the covenant. So I decided to use Regret the next game.
Second round, same strat just applied it to Regret. My opponent was Forge so I knew he was going to get the Trio of Sparizzlies up ASAP. Sent Regret plus 2 Honor Guard to far base, 2 Hunters Wraith and a Locust to near one. Capped both, cued a Scarab, 3 Engineers, and like 6 Hunters. Once the Hunters died helping kill the Tanks I just replaced them with Locusts.
Final round, I used Cutter, they used Regret. I capped all four bases w/ an Elephant on each flank, same results as first, death by sparscorps, vultures and a million ODSTs
I won a copy to sell to my other roomate who didn't preorder, if he wants it. Yeah I guess it was a little unfair, but I was pretty good @ CnC Gen: ZH so it's not that hard to get used to this one. I am and have been playing HW on Live and the new maps on H3 tonight!
