    Re: Logic vs. Fun

        Look at the past posts..

This is identical to Monty Python. "it's not a matter of where he grips it, it's simple weight ratios. A five ounce swallow can't carry a one pound coconut."

For those of you who saw Monty Python and the Holy Grail, you're probably laughing right now.

Anyway, just gonna start by throwing this out there. I can flip a tank while running, and I can flip an elephant. Do I care that it's illogical? No.

Thank you to all of you who participated in this pointless argument, it has not only given me the opportunity to use a Monty Python line, but you've proved my point. Stop thinking so hard about something so pointless! You have actually calculated the weight of a tank, and determined it's architecture and purpose for it being built in such a fashion. You want to tell me that Master Chief can flip a tank, put it on you tube and I'll watch him do it. For those of you who had to reread that sentence to understand that I was being sarcastic, do not respond to this post.

For the past two years games have been all about logic? One of my marines was hit by four fuel rod cannon shots directly and then told me off when I took away his sniper. Don't think, just have fun with this game. You want to flip a tank, fine by me, as long as I get a sniper and plenty of targets in the side seat of that tank.

Also, I understand that the game couldn't function without logic, that's why I put it in my previous posts.

    THIS IS HILARIOUS!!!!

Please, continue with your pointless arguments and continue restating what I've already said, you're making this thread as a comedy and a way for me to show everyone that this isn't how games are created.

BTW-a Scorpion is 77 tons but you forgot to add in the light machine gun turret on the top which was .23451234634 tons. Plus the sand that would enter the tank adding an extra .00126345 tons. (this is what you guys sound like)

You created this thread, don't get upset and go running off.  Still, many of us prefer logic.  But what still few of us know that logic=fun.  People who play RTS are usually smarter then normal gamers, because of the amount of brainpower involved.  Seeing a destroyed tank's treads fall off is fun to watch!  Don't get upset about every little thing.

PS:  And to the tank arguement, wouldn't the turret collapse in on itself?  I mean it looks like a weak structure for that much weight.

^ Ah, maybe you can clear this argument up AI?

Would a spartan realistically be able to flip a tank? (I say no... but others disagree obviously, or we wouldn't be in this argument)

There is no way a spartan could flip a tank

    Agreed.

    A half-ton man can't flip a 66-ton tank.

In that case, what would be the point to going through all that trouble to try to flip a useless tank.

If the tank was upside down in a wide open area, the spartans wouldn't be ablr to flip it, but if it rolled near a hill or something, he could probably use the leaverage to push the tank far enough so that it would flip back over.

That feature was only put into the game so if a player rolled the tank, they would be able to right it. Its one of the many non canon features in the game put in only for gameplay purposes.

    Re: Logic vs. Fun

    James T.:

I have to ask, do you guys want logic to take some of the fun out of the game?

Now I'm not saying that Master Chief can fly, but some things just have to be accepted. The deal with the Scarab in the demo, too many MAC shots? Are you kidding me? Spirit of Fire is a new ship that can fire six MAC shots. You see what I did? I made something up because people don't care that ships can only fire one to three shots. They don't think out the mechanics of Forerunner artifacts, they blow 'em up! Sure the game would still be fun with all of this intense logic and thought. But would it be anywhere near as fun as if you could be forerunners, fire ten MAC shots, control 117. People aren't going to not but the game because it is slightly off, but they will if it's not fun.

    Where do you stand?

    Fun vs. Logic.

Logic is not the right word to use in this case, believability or canon would be  more appropriate.

A game must have believability to work, while many people twist canon in  games to suit the game, which is completely unnecessary but many people do do it.

And this is months old really! this happened in august, I'm sure ES has made a decision or not. But there have been plenty of debates already.

    MC can flip a tank,

    Re: Logic vs. Fun

I agree that logic equals fun, but logic also detracts from fun. A completely logical Halo would be ridiculo0us, one shot and you would be dead. You would need to eat, and sleep, and you could get tired. You have to allow some leeway to make games work, and you're not allowing that.

P.S- ignore the tank, a Spartan can flip an elephant while running alongside it!
