Wolverfrog49:I'd have thought they'd still need a brain to breathe, eat and move. Wasn't it shown in Halo: The Flood that Infection forms merely hijack the brain?

Besides, in Halo 3, if you shoot a Flood in the head then it counts as a critical shot.

    i concur. mush on, Wolver!

New story out! Halo: Below the Brine

Keeping the brain alive helps prolong the life of the combat form.  But the brain doesn't have to be alive for the combat form to function.

Correct, I believe they only need to "hook up" with the nerves

They need the spinal cord.  That's why hunters, grunts, and jackals can't be infected. (infected jackals/grunt squads in HWars was canonically inaccurate)

Well I was close. I thought it was that grunts and jackals didn't have enough bio mass

By the way, this was a pure form; a Juggernaut. I doubt they have infection forms inside them. Thus, it would need a brain to function.

I only meant the combat form.

But, blowing their head of doesn't kill them but the infection form is kinda close to the head of the host so it is quite easy to hit it instead of the head (in halo 3 that is).

If you want proof that they don't need heads then blow the head off of a halo 1 flood combat form (although they don't die if you shoot it in the chest either but the point still stands) or a halo 2 type.

Wolverfrog never talked about the combat form; he was talking about pure forms. Pure forms have brains, as they need to function to survive. About your statement about combat forms, I totally agree.

Halo 3 flood is considered official canon.

    So is Halopedia.

not H1 or H2 because they couldn't do as much on the older xbox.

So wait there NOT conon because the system they were made for couldn't do " much "

Halo 1 started the halo-vise so how can it not be Official conon. It showed the point leading almost up the Halo 2. Halo 2 also i official Canon because its story lead to the spilt in the covenant and also the allies of elites and humans. If you count these as not Official Canon then you don't know what it is then.
