    Re: Halo Wars Update 08.27.07

Sorry to spoil it guys, but there is definitly a unit cap.

Look at the symbol in the middle, it is a picture of a man, obviously a pop cap.  The rhino looks decent in stats, but fairly expensive compared to a firepower supperior vehichle.

As you see here the scorpion is a far greater unit in almost every single catagory, but is much cheaper.  The conclusion?  There is no doubt that the rhino is a long range artillary unit, or else not one person would waste their resources on it instead of a scorpion.

Stay tuned for a hardcore analysis.

    Re: Halo Wars Update 08.27.07

I was really impressed of how well they put this game together, i was really worried that they might take the halo feel out of it.  The thing that really amazed me though was how they programmed the warthog (all the vehicles actually) to perform how they would in a halo game.  The sound, motion etc.

Sux about the unit cap though, but they got to keep it fair for online play.

    awesome vid though

    Re: Halo Wars Update 08.27.07

Itc ould just be another resource.

One such game i remembeer playing is Conquest:Frontier Wars

There were three main resources, Manpower(generated by certain planets), Metal(refined and harvested on planets and asteroids) and Gas(refined and harvested on planets and nebulae). And then there was a totaly seperate pop cap

It could have three similar resources and use a seperate pop cap. But if you can only store so many vehicles and other units, wouldn't that already limit the amount of units you can have already?

    Re: Halo Wars Update 08.27.07

In my opinion, a pop cap should only be assigned to how many men can be sustained in a base, for example building a structure to house and facilitate marines will increase the number of infantry you can create, while building a garage will increase the number of vehicles you can create / sustain.

The AI was terrible. Nobody took cover or tried to flank or move out of the line of fire.

Actually in RTS games it is up to you to do this as you are the "commander" and u must make your units flank. Also, one of the marines did take cover by laying down, he is the last to die. And marines have the special ability of "dig in" where i assume they make a sandbag hut to take cover in like in C&C3

You know you're right.  It would sort of be hard to control your units in the field if they're running for cover or flanking on their own

    Re: Halo Wars Update 08.27.07

if a single rhino unit takes up 40 population, then halo wars must have a HUGE pop cap. for that reason, i doubt that little "man" stands for pop count.
