Yeah, to add to that, the scorpion tanks looked much diffrent, smaller turent, bigger cannon. That would signify and older modle and there for an earlyer time, like, for say, harvest.

Take a look at it. The Turrent ficture is smaller well the cannon (barrel) is larger. 

Um, I don't believe the Spartans ever fought on Harvest. But I could be wrong.

teh spartan project started in 2491, the battel of harvest took place in 2525, which is the same year the spartan II project started.

 

maybe it was started because the spartan I 's got wiped out at the battle on harvest.

 

furthermore, here it mentions that a scout ship was first sent to harvest, which would kinda-sorta go inline with the trailer, having scouts rush out of the covenant base

Harvest:

Harvest was a new colony world in the outer reaches of UNSC space. It was destroyed by the Covenant in 2525. Anyone remember that Vice Admiral Preston Cole fought in the Battle of Harvest in 2531, six years later??? I think that i remember it because it was the single most titanic battle ever fought by the two opposing forces before the Fall of Reach in 2552. I believe that this is where it all takes place.

2525: The Battle of Harvest

In the FoR a small vessel was sent to Harvest to find what had happened, and was subsequently destroyed. The UNSC sent a task force to investigate lead by Captain Preston Cole. Right?... Cole's war fleet engaged the alien warship responsible for the decimation of the colony, scoring a victory though the battle cost Cole two-thirds of his battle group. Only his last minute tactical inspiration turned the tide of battle. 

Cole began to rearrange his fleet in an attempt to intercept the invaders then ground and ship-to-ship battles began raging throughout the Outer Colonies. As far as I'm concerned in the time line - during one ground engagement, human forces captured one of the aliens. Interrogators learned that the aliens referred to themselves as "the Covenant." What I don’t understand is... when they found this out was it, what maybe 1-2 years after the battle of harvest. I think this is where the game starts at. Of course, I could be way off.

 

Ok im a huge fan of all the books, but heres a free tip.  BUNGIE DOSE NOT CARE WHAT PEOPLE RIGHT!!!  They are not going to incorperate the books story line into this game.  Have you noticed that in First Strike that other spartans were found on reach and that was said to happen after halo 1, so it all goes to show you that, as usual, they are going to use their own ideas and not follow anyone elses.  If they did they could take credit and royalties.

Reach is in the Epsilon Eridani system. Reach was the UNSC's primary Naval yard and training academy. it was a major producer of warships and colony vessels, as well as a training ground for covert operatives and Special Forces.

Harvest is the planet where the covenant were first discovered in 2525, the covenant glassed the planet.  this is about the same time that the spartans are undergoing the augmentation process.  After the destruction of Harvest is when the Spartans get the MJOLNIR armor.  I don't think the planet in the video is harvest or reach. By 2535, virtually all of the Outer Colony worlds were destroyed by the Covenant.  My guess is that it would be one of those.

Its not that planet. If it was human infested and the Covenant saw it they would glass it. Reach is the only exception so it is not a human world.

It was a human world or else there would have been no reason to try to defend it. It might of been Reach. 

Reach was the 2nd largest base ,other then Earth of course

Anyone that said Harvest Colony would be right....it says in the books that they lost contact with harvest after first meeting the covenant....then the covenant began their extermination of te human race....

 

Also i think in the trailer, its a crashed covenant ship that there doin recon in, but i could be rong... 

I'm starting to withdraw my statement. I don't think there were every SPARTANs on Harvest.

alright... those of you who have no idea about the halo universe... just stop talking please....

first off... watch the trailer again... there arnt a lot of spartans... there are 5... stop the trailer at that time and count... there are 5 spartans, and then the rest are all those marines...

second... bungie takes the halo world very seriously.... they want everything to line up perfectly..  they have this thing called the  "Halo story bible" i think is what its called.. and it has everything you need to know about the halo universe.. they make all of the people who are using the halo name to follow it very strictly.. including halowars, the halo movie, and im sure peter jacksons secret 360 title....
