    Tainted4Chaos:

you would have to defend a single turret with the leader while keeping him there happy?

Ok, good point. But by keep your leader at your base, you can't capture hooks or expand, where as the Hogs can, so you lose map control and your at a massive disadvantage.

In 1v1, covy can kinda get away with making a turret early, and Forge can because he has a lot of money. But Anders nearly always beats Covy and Forge, unless there is a massive skill difference in the players.

if the hogs arnt at your base theres no point to keep the leader there and neither of them are going to constantly go back and forth just to attack/defend leader reacll if you MUST but that must be a good bunch of warthogs wither way kill them before grenader and your set hopefully

Ha Ha maybe. But no, its just that Anders with a barracks can pretty much counter everything you have. In some situations you will need Hornets, but they are mainly used as extra support, or because they are fast and fly, they aren't strictly used for what they can counter.

    Air - Hogs/Marines

    Infantry - Hogs/Flamers

Ground - Gremlins/Hornets/ Hogs for the base

If its a mixture, you just add what you need, so for example say its Infantry and Air then Anders can go - Marines/Hogs/Flamers

If your leader go off to expand, then there is two options. If you have enough Hogs, just fight the leader, or attack your base since its no defended. If your leader is back, then expand. Only take 3 Hogs to force a turret, and there is more coming all the time. Anders can also afford to make infantry, so the Hogs can harass your base while Anders send a couple flamers to capture a hook, or a few Marines to take a base.

Lets say your leader did manage to capture a hook, then recall in time to push the Hogs out of the base, you now cant defend the hook and you'll lose it before it pays off.

The way to beat Hogs is good micro, and being offensive.

major hog users always have micro so that stops PoR and brute abilities so it should be able to keep him back arby wins tho but yeah if you can defend you hooks good luck

The Arbiter is a prime example of Hog micro, because the Arbiter can rage through Gunner hogs like no bodies business, but good controllers can beat him early with some gunner hogs. Check out videos form top players against the Arbiter, and you'll see just how powerful the Hogs are

Gunner hogs don't really work against him since if he catches yours, you have to break some off and split them to let some survive.

beating arby in 1v1 with hogs early just requires knowing were arby is and that's not hard if you use points, common sense and just seeing him try and take your hooks and all you need to do is set a look out hog at the front of th base for recalling and he cant chain your hogs because there away from that hog if he trys getting to the others he wont even get that one hog sooooo...works for getting hooks to you just always need to use a look out hog for getting hooks for harrassing you'll lose a hog but you should be making them constantly anyway

Good players have always used warthogs obsessively, what are you talking about?

Good players use everything obsessively, not just some lame a55 warthogs. I can use one warthog better than most people use 10.

No they don't, in fact at high level play, not a whole lot of units get used. Besides, I doubt you can use one better than most can use 10 since you not so long ago posted a thread about your strategy to not scout and stun-jack tanks.

anything can be good for that matter in the hands of a skilled player.  You keep assuming that everyone is 1337, and that everyone shares your enthusiasm for hogs.  True they can be good, true many people use them effectively, but thats not how everyone plays.  And if you come back with an argument on how all good players must play a certain way(ie hog users) then you are just lying to yourself, everyone knows that the best way is never one way, but all ways, used at the proper moments of opportunity.  Thats what makes strategy games strategy games.  They are ever changing, and there will always be prominent ways to play, but I cannot accept that there is only one way to play this game, I would just throw it away if that were true.
