I was wondering how gamers were going to take the RTS console news.
Personally I dislike RTS games but I might be willing to try one out on a console. RTS is such a huge genre that it can easily support multiple styles, ones that lend themselves better to a PC and those that take advantage of the more social, living room experience of a console. Saying that you need a keyboard/mouse to be more precise is already making assumptions about the game play and what you'll need to do to play it. If you start feeling the need to have a mouse/keyboard then they have failed.
My only fear in picking Ensemble to develop the game is that they *have* developed a RTS. There needs to be a re-thinking of what a RTS can be and I would hate for Halo Wars to be just a repackaged/rebranded version of Ensemble's other RTS games. Yippy, a new map/skin pack on top of their other game with one or two twists thrown in. Blech. I think the more hard-core, PC-only RTS gamers they offend the better they are doing. So many gamers complain about a lack of innovation in the industry yet when companies *do* try to do something different people riot.
To make this post on-topic, I dislike exclusives of any sort. I hate when games come out only for the PS and I imagine PS owners feel the same in return. On the other hand I don't want games to be a lowest common denominator that are coded to insure they can be played on any console. Each consoles offers completely unique ways of approaching game design and reducing them down to a common base tends to deprive consoles owners of any edge their console may have.
