Good players carry 2 doods and win.

Newbs get carried and win and think they are good.

Absolute trash loses when they get carried.

Spartanking used to make vampires as it was part of our old strat running (forge arbie, brute). It was very effective and got us all quite high on the leaderboards. We stopped running this strat once people like frontshooter/dcsparta worked out the perfect counter. Now we have a number of other strats that are much more effective. Both you and spartan are two of the top players in teams, no doubt.

Re: What Separates the Good Players From the Newbs?

Newbs (as in new to the game):

    - Usually Cutter as they don't now how to change leader.  Are terrible at using Cutter.

    - Once they learn how to they will change to Forge and go straight for Grizzly regardless of what the enemy is building.

    - If Covie, upgrade their leader and spam his special ability.

    - Build only Vultures once their first army is dead.

N00bs (as in just all-round terrible):

    - Seem to think Scarabs are invincible.

    - MAC blast your scout at the start of the game.

    - Are always asking for money.

    - Don't rush.

    - Don't defend against rushes.

    - Hatemail you when you rush them.

    - Don't know what a counter unit is.

    - Drop the d-bomb just after Arby has raged all your units.

    - Send you a message telling you how terrible you are after they get knocked out the game/resign.

trying to get a good game and take their time on purpose in order to get a decent game going and not one where you get a huge unupgraded army that wont have a problem because you did it in a minute and you know the enemy wont have one that fast

Re: What Separates the Good Players From the Newbs?

Bad players run their army into counters

Good players fall back to advance toward future victory.....

Bad players attack late with Warthog rushing...

Good players attack with a decent army.

Re: What Separates the Good Players From the Newbs?

Experienced players set up to counter counters and stuff like that.  For example, a good player would build Hawks, then his UNSC opponent would build Wolverines.  The good guy would get ready and build some Cobras to counter Wolverines.  If his opponent were Covenant, he'd build some Wolverines.  Good players also use each type of unit (infantry, vehicle, air) and especially Spartans as UNSC.  As Covenant, they know how to use their leader and keep him from dying using recall and moving around a lot to trick their opponent.  Also, new players tend to think engineers are useless and only build 1 or 2.

A new, crappy player just spams.

    I suck less at Standard.

Engineers are useless, if you're not turtling.
