12th out of 25 what? On a top 25 list?

Halo Wars just got 12th on IGN's top Xbox 360 games of all time, but they have 25 games they talk about.

Wow. I always like Halo Wars a lot, but I never expected it would rank that high. I guess having Halo in the title of a game nowadays helps a little.

Aloysius:I'm not paranoid, we had to make a code change to disable signatures because people were abusing them. We either had sigs on or off completely, and I wanted you guys to still have text signatures, so we had to make a code change for that. Code changes for the forums take a good bit of time, so it's not a trivial change to make.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to simply disable HTML and enable BBcode when you changed the code, rather than disabling HTML and aspects of BBcode? I'd imagine that it would be easier to disable HTML than it would be to disable certain types of BBcode.

Yeah but people would still abuse it. Since we weren't hosting the signature images themselves, people could abuse them (and they did). We don't have the resources to moderate every signature, and when people started abusing them, we disabled it.

Well, I've always been curious why sig images got banned. I know both guys who broke the forums with their sigs, and both used HTML, and I'm fairly certain ES knew how they did it too.

And even more to the point, if sig images were banned because it was too complex to change the coding of the site to allow sig images but not HTML, then why was their a giant fuss about us posting images at the bottom of our posts, to you point where the [img] tags were completely banned?

But you had the users. We all knew the rules, and bad sigs got reported right away. Generally speaking, most sigs were harmless, like mine. A picture that makes a vague reference to something I like with my username in it.

And as for everyone disagreeing with the IGN people, that's fine. That's their opinion and you have yours. I think I side more with the IGN people personally.

Finally, Aloysius decides to come out and respond to us! He smacks down (respectfully) those who disagree with him. He's come out of his turtle shell! Thanks for talking with us Aloysius!

-P.S., is there a way to prevent a certain person from making multiple accounts and threatening the forums? (I think you know who I'm talking about)

    Re: Congratulations hw

Because there is a large community of people who express their artistic talents by making those signatures.

Also, it makes finding posts by a specific person much easier.

    Re: Congratulations hw

While we're on the subject, last week I played around with the remaining bits of HTML in my signature, and it just so happened <h> tags were not disabled.

So I used them, but it got removed. Was that just a little bit of code you didn't disable or what?

Atleast, atleast, I'm the only one so far [ I believe ] that has a signature in Binairy. I want to be the only one... Because really... It wouldn't make me special anymore...

    Re: Congratulations hw

    Congrats to Ensemble/Robot.

To everyone complaining about the lack of support, there used to be a studio called Pandemic.  It was a very successful studio, making games such as Battlefront, Mercenaries, and Destroy All Humans, which were all very well received games.  It was just shut down, right after it finished The Saboteur, which was going to be its best game yet.  EA closed it down.  200 employees gone.  Sounds like another studio I know. (*cough* Ensemble *cough cough*)

However, unlike Ensemble, which evolved into Robot and was able to hammer out an agreement to update the game for us fans, The Saboteur will fail because of a lack of post-release support.   Interviews with former employees confirm that the game will recieve almost no support what so ever.

How is this relevant, you might ask?  Many people are complaining about the lack of updates and the amount of boosters, but I just wanted to remind y'all that we are very lucky to have a studio who cares.

Hope this was in the right spot, because I am not typing this out again.

    Re: Congratulations hw

HW is a brillient game, it set a new standard for RTS on the console. I hope that a developer takes the work done, and expands on it to create a new game that is not bound by the constraints of the HW world. I wouldn't like to see HW 2 because I don't think theres enough room to expand due to the limited amount of units and world etc. I would much rather see a completely new game created that uses everything HW did for the RTS genre.

Also, no matter how good HW would be, there would still be a legion of followers complaining about the canon.
